I don't see why this is an unreasonable viewpoint to have after several of your friends were mowed down by school gunmen.
It's not an unreasonable viewpoint. That's not all he said though.
Why hasn't he targeted the Sherrif's office? The Sherrif himself? The FBI?
They had more to do with this tragedy than the fricking NRA or gun laws.

David Hogg reminds me of the little fairy that stayed in during recess to play Barbie dolls with the girls when we were in elementary school while the boys went outside and played cowboys and indians.
You mean Auburn fans?

Is anyone actually endorsing that?
Adolescence now lasts til age 24

"Although many adult legal privileges start at age 18 years, the adoption of adult roles and responsibilities generally occurs later."

"Age definitions are always arbitrary", she writes, but "our current definition of adolescence is overly restricted".
"The ages of 10-24 years are a better fit with the development of adolescents nowadays."

The also have more access to more misinformation which feeds their bias. In the past we had libraries. They stocked far less misinformation than the net. Kids today aren't nearly as good at decision making or strongwilled as in the past.
This is where good parenting comes in. It is possible for both kids and parents to search for answers or factcheck together.
And sure, there's alot of misinformation out there, but there's far more truth than fiction, and a good parent can teach children the difference between fact and opinion.
Or maybe my kids are just far smarter than I was growing up in Louisiana. Probably a mix of the two.

Absolutely not.
You can find any number of sources to support any position on the internet.
Truth, mainly due to the media degradation has become a fleeting thing.

I don't know and I haven't read everything he has said and I certainly can see how people think he's an annoying, little twerp.
Still, I think his takedown of Laura Ingraham was fricking awesome. He cut her off at the knees with a single tweet.

What an ingrate
Nah.
He's "typical". He's learning from the pros.
Insult everyone you don't agree with to the highest order. Curse them, accuse them of being murderers, etc. Then, when they inevitably fight back, play a victim card.
The ties these kids have to high-level parents is alarming. It is also alarming that the media is only focusing on that particular group of kids. Not any others who either saved fellow classmates or have differing opinions.

Remove yourself from the political bullshite, and you'll actually find alot of information on practical stuff. Most kids (at least mine) could give two shits about political leanings. I get the whole "mainstream media bias thing" but thinking that kids aren't as smart as they were when we were growing up, is romantic, but false.
Last night I was trying to explain to my 9 year old what would happen with a tie break scenario for the NBA playoffs, and he cut me off and began explaining to me the 3rd and 4th tie breakers. How did he already know? He looked it up online.

I'm not sure why you think truth only pertains to politics.

Nope.
While IQ scores are trending up, other areas that measure "smartness" are going down.
quote:
The new analysis was "crystal clear," Woodley said.
"We found a very, very robust trend with time, toward slowing speeds of reaction," he said, "which is consistent with the idea that the more stable, the more culturally neutral, the more genetically influenced components of intelligence have been declining rather than increasing."
What that suggests is that even as IQ scores rise with education and health, humanity's capacity to get smarter is shrinking. In essence, the Flynn effect might be hiding an underlying decline, a "psychometric dark matter" not visible on pen-and-paper intelligence tests, Woodley said.
"An analogy to use would be lower-quality seeds, but higher-quality fertilizers," he said, referring to this idea that a high-quality environment may be masking the decline in "smart" genes.
If true, the reasons are unknown. Possibilities range from exposure to neurotoxins in modern society to natural selection.

Humans appear to be able to repeat learned information a lot better than previous generations but they are also far less creative. We're creating drones.
quote:
The study authors cite an analysis of the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking performance data over the past five decades (a reliable test of creative thinking) showing that IQ scores have steadily increased since 1990, but creative thinking scores have significantly decreased. Perhaps not surprisingly, those results are especially evident for the age group spanning five to ten years old – ages that traditionally saw the burgeoning of imagination. Our kids may be getting smarter (relatively speaking) but creatively speaking they have less and less need to be imaginative.
"Once we become used to not being creative -- to being merely passive consumers -- it seems that the creativity muscle begins to atrophy, which does not bode well for future generations," Mehta added.
That is, unless we want future generations to merely fill the role of functionary consumers. Hopefully that isn't a choice we’re making by default.

While I appreciate your link, I have kids and going to their latest STEAM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) Fair showed the kind of stuff kids are creating now. They're in elementary school and it was FAR better than the stuff I grew up on. It isn't even close. It's like comparing a community college to Harvard.
Perhaps most of the board won't share this perspective as Louisiana is ranked dead last for states eduationally. Alaska is ranked 45th for what it's worth.
The state I live in currently is in the upper quarter of the survey, so perhaps what I see daily supports my viewpoint.
However, it kinda sounds like you don't have kids and you're relying on an internet article to support your view. Which is slightly ironic, because you just talked about how you can find anything online to support your claim.

When is Hogg going to apologize to the millions of gun owners he's slung mud at?

So does he want to be treated like a grown up or a child? Looks like he wants it both ways.

He entered the fray, he should be able to take it without asking for boycotts and she shouldn’t have to apologize.
frick him.
ETA: And because of him and his whiny cohorts I purchased another AR. I’m sure that’s the reaction for which they were wishing.
