Defensive operations until recent Russian use of jet powered drones didn't require high speeds, so the limits do work in terms of defense use because offensive weapons success can hinge on delivery speed whereas raw top end speed capability is, under most circumstances, less important in defense use cases. Even outside of that they arent supposed to be strapping them to drones lmao

Now ask grok if it can personally verify that every starlink mini was used according to TOS and that none were provisioned through any back channels. I wonder what the answer will be there?

As someone who was inside the process at the Ministry of Defense, I can say with certainty that this is not true.
In February of this year, whitelists were introduced. Stationary terminals could be registered by both military personnel and civilians.
But for any satellite terminal to work while on the move, it had to be added to a special list and connected to the military Starshield system. Otherwise, no satellite communication terminals in Ukraine would work.
In other words, using civilian Starlink for drone missions was technically impossible. All drone missions that required satellite communication could only be carried out using Starshield.
We are very grateful to the United States and SpaceX for access to critically important satellite communications. Ukraine did not violate the terms of use.

Ukraine was grateful when Musk provided Starlink so that they could have comms with the troops at the front. It made a huge difference early in the Full Scale invasion. Drones were mostly being used to drop hand grenades into trenches and spotting for artillery and HIMARS plus large drones from Turkey hitting convoys and troop concentrations.
I don't blame Ukraine for hacking them to do more than allowed. I would do the same if I were them and had the skills to do so. The party is over, good while it lasted.

I mean I get doing it from the perspective of Ukraine, but the smear campaign of Musk, The White House, and the US in general about this has been ridiculous given what we now know for a fact

Trump had done a poor job of communicating lately. First Iran and now Ukraine. The administration needs to get their act together especially in election season. All this hurts.
