The Flamingo has arrived! Not only a range of +1800km, but a 3-Pointer upon arrival.

quote:

The successful use of the FP-5 may point to a significant upgrade of the missile, most likely the integration of a TERCOM (Terrain Contour Matching) system that enables flight at very low altitudes. TERCOM works by using a radio altimeter or specialized radar to read the terrain beneath the missile and compare it to a pre-loaded reference “map.”

The lower a cruise missile flies, the more effectively it evades air defense systems and radar detection. At the same time, the primary role of TERCOM is to provide a satellite-independent navigation system, greatly increasing the missile’s resistance to electronic warfare jamming, the experts add.

Just to add another layer onto the Rybar cake -

quote:

Russia likely invented a Ukrainian “counteroffensive” near Zaporizhzhia to cover up its own fake advance reports, ISW says

The think tank assessed that Russian forces overstated their gains near Oleksandrivka and Huliaipole and are now using claims of Ukrainian counterattacks to walk back positions they never actually held.
quote:

Russian forces are likely fabricating claims of a Ukrainian "counteroffensive" near the Dnipropetrovsk-Zaporizhzhia regional borders to cover up earlier false reports about their own advances in the area, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Ukraine's Southern Defense Forces denied any counteroffensive, saying the frontline remains at least 10-15 km from Ternuvate, which Russian forces tried to claim they had seized.

This comes as part of a broader pattern of Russia's false claims — from Kupiansk to Pokrovsk to Huliaipole — designed to project an image of inevitable Russian victory as fighting grinds on across southern and eastern Ukraine and US-brokered peace talks continue.
quote:

ISW says Col. Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for Ukraine's Southern Defense Forces, denied Russian milbloggers' claims about an alleged Ukrainian "counteroffensive" at the Dnipropetrovsk-Zaporizhzhia Oblast border. Ukrainian troops in the sector are carrying out recon and search operations targeting Russian infiltration and sabotage groups, he said. Such operations fall far short of a counteroffensive, he noted.
quote:

ISW said Voloshyn noted that Russian forces have been inflating their advances in the area and assessed that they are now trying to use claims of a Ukrainian counteroffensive to manage their lies. The think tank separately noted that Russian milbloggers have themselves been voicing widespread frustration over a systemic pattern of commanders filing fabricated progress reports up the chain of command.

Beware of the five stages of Rybar -

Stage 1: Russian troops defend territory in previously reported positions.

Stage 2: Thousands of Ukrainians killed in pointless attacks.

Stage 3: Russia counteroffensive kills thousands more, huge advances, great victory.

Stage 4: AFU counteroffensive begins in Eastern Zaporizhia, trying to advance at the junction of the Dnipropetrovsk & Zaporizhia regions, attacking in the direction of Stepovoe, Berezovoe & Ternove. West: clashes are taking place on the banks of the Gaychur. The AFU entered Ternove, Kosovtsi & Pryluki, & also broke through to the outskirts of Yelenokonstantinovka. The battles are heavy and protracted. The AFU is exploiting unfavorable weather conditions and recently exacerbated comms problems.

Stage 5: Back to Stage 1.

Fun fact: the Battle of Stalingrad lasted 199 days. The Battle of Pokrovsk has lasted +/- 574 days, which will soon be 3 times as long. The Nazi Germans lost +/- 500 tanks while the Nazi Russians have lost over 600 tanks in Pokrovsk, and they still can't take the town. Russia is weak and losing. It's only a matter of time before they collapse.

Apologies to Wee Wee, I just now see that he already posted this. Good enough for a repost, but with credit this time.

Orban blackmailed the "Brussels dictatorship" for €10 billion

The chief legal adviser of the EU Court recommended completely canceling the European Commission's decision to unblock €10 billion for Hungary in December 2023.

This opinion is not a final court decision, but it significantly affects the future verdict of the judges, which is expected in a few months.

If the EU Court agrees with the recommendation, Hungary will be obliged to return these funds. The funds were frozen due to systemic problems with the rule of law in Hungary, in particular the independence of the judicial system.

The Commission unblocked €10 billion on the eve of the EU summit, where Orban was supposed to lift the veto on aid to Ukraine, after it recognized that Hungary had fulfilled certain technical "milestones" regarding judicial reform. POLITICO

Setting Orban's arse on fire is guaranteed

Just several more days to 4 years into the day special military operation. If that is not an epic failure, I don't know what is

Another payday for the Kremlin..

Law enforcement officers arrested the former head of the FESCO transport group, Severilov, and the company's vice president, Ivanov. They are accused of embezzlement on a particularly large scale (Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code).

The FESCO group was owned by businessman Ziyavudin Magomedov and his brother Magomed until 2023. In early 2023, the Khamovnichesky Court of Moscow satisfied the Prosecutor General's claim to seize the group's shares as state revenue.

Rybar is already having to show Ukrainian advances to correct its overstating Russian gains.

I think it is more than that. I am starting to think the hypothesis that Ukraine went on the offensive to improve their positions for Russians spring offensive is the most valid of all the hypothesizes put out this week regarding this offensive.

You can say the man's name. Vladimir Putin is the one who has no strategy. It is surprising that he has not adapted. Ukraine has been able to neutralize or greatly demise the effect of Russia's human wave tactics by deploying unmanned ground vehicles with machine guns mounted to them. Russia has not gained any real significant strategic goals and has lost many many many men since then. Russia's reverting back to its historic approach of overwhelming positions with numbers worked in 2023 and part of 2024. However, it has not worked for at least the last 18 months or so, and Russia has shown no change in its tactics over that time frame.

He is likely talking about me, because I make fun of him for believing areas like Pokrovsk have no importance at all today when Ukraine has invested notable if not significant resources into holding and retaking it. Which, as an army that is fairly successfully defending against Russia with little raw territorial losses, they would not be doing for an area that isn't advantageous to control.

Maybe that fake technology he was supposedly developing gave him some inside info that he isn't sharing though, that is certainly a possibility.

It's hilarious but unsurprising that you get so much shite when you mostly just post maps with little to no text

Latest Rybar map

And commentary translated from original Russian using iPhone

quote:

In the East-Zaporozhye direction, the Vostok group of troops reflects the offensive of Ukrainian formations on Gaichur on the western and from the side of Bolshemikhaylivka on the northern flank. The enemy command pulled assault units from several directions to the direction, but they could not break through the defense of the Russian Armed Forces.
