No, it is cogent within their strategy, which seems hellbent on capitulation from the US. Thus they can ask for maximalist demands and no one bats an eye.

Very interesting. Obviously, the actual peace agreement is coming from the Russians. So what is a very smart, experienced guy like Umerov talking to the FBI about? Specifically to Dan Bongino, who from all credible accounts is soon going to take the fall for not preventing the release of the Epstein files.

Is Umerov back-channeling an end around with the FBI, many of whom built their careers as professional law enforcement administrators and are aware of and very uncomfortable with what is actually in those files? Or, more likely, aware that big changes are coming to the leadership of the DOJ and FBI and want to place themselves out of harm's way?

Ok, just dreaming out loud here, but if those files are say... released anonomously, that would do more to change the dynamic of the Ukraine - Russian relationship than anything we can imagine. Just think - TACO finally freed of Putin's blackmail and JD Vance making all the decisions going forward.

Just a thought...

Ukrainian chief negotiator Rustem Umerov has reportedly met secretly in the US with the FBI director multiple times in Miami to discuss the American peace plan and national security issues. According to The Washington Post, Western diplomats are concerned these back-channel contacts could be used to pressure Kyiv toward more conciliatory peace terms. The Ukrainian ambassador’s office confirmed the meetings, saying they focused on security cooperation; the FBI said discussions involved law-enforcement and security matters, with corruption raised but not central.

This move will go over as well as when Colby roped Hegseth into unilaterally cutting US military supplies to Ukraine with the excuse that these 30 - 40 year old supplies were needed for the US military.

This is all about Driscoll being Hegseth's soon-to-be replacement as head of DoD. Pete, it seems that you're learning all the lessons the expensive way. But look at the bright side - it's Friday.

quote:

The Telegraph reports that US Army chief Dan Driscoll has been sidelined from Ukraine peace talks by War Secretary Pete Hegseth, who insiders say viewed him as “exerting himself a bit too much.” The move is seen as part of a broader internal power struggle over who shapes the negotiations. They believe Hegseth’s camp is aligned with his longtime ally J.D. Vance, while another faction is led by Rubio.

The greatest danger that this country currently faces is right here among us.

Unfettered immigration and Radical leftists that hate the constitution and it's founding principles. A welfare state that allowed in millions of illegals with open borders and 80% are on some type of government check

Oh horseschit. I'm a right-wing Republican and it's obvious that an administration that has absolutely no principles whatsoever outside of 'steal anything not nailed down' and 'take power at all costs' is the issue. Too many of ya'll just sit there anytime these schmucks open their mouths and say 'uh huh' and question nothing.

We've been dealing with immigration for 400 years and it always works to our favor. Frankly, America's real addiction is cheap labor and immigration works to feed that and brings in an estimated $100B/year, but nobody wants to admit that - you're just looking for a scapegoat.

Christ, some people.

The "reparations loan" plan... Thanks Vlad, you genius.

And I severely underestimated how much the EC would squeeze out of that Russian collateral. And how fast. €90 billion is waaay more than portfolio return on €247 billion. But, a billion here, a billion there... we should worry so much. Vlad's got this one.

quote:

The European Commission plans to allocate €90 billion in budget support to Ukraine for 2026–2027, according to budget committee head Roksolana Pidlasa. Under the draft "reparations loan" plan, aid would be split between defense production/procurement (in Ukraine & EU) and macro-financial support.

It’s not horseshite. Illegal immigrants are a massive drain on society and commit many crimes. Thankfully America voted in 2024 to remove them and we’re watching it happen live. If you don’t agree, it really doesn’t matter either because it will continue to happen. Deal with it, champ.

That sound you just heard is all Putin's shirtless horse riding photos flushed down the toilet.

The narrative is and always will be front line leadership.

quote:

Zelensky with balls of steel, visits the very frontline in Kupyansk: "Ukrainian forces are achieving real gains. Many Russians talked about Kupyansk, we see the result. I met our fighters, thanked every unit, every warrior destroying the occupiers. Battlefield success strengthens our hand in diplomacy. Proud of our troops. Glory to Ukraine!”

The Russian offensive is setting records -

quote:

A century-old anti-record: Putin sells the failure of the Russian offensive on the front as a victory, and Trump gladly goes along with it — The Wall Street Journal

The Russian offensive is stalling like never before (compared to all major wars in 100 years), and the losses are simply enormous. For comparison: during the Battle of the Somme in 1916, the Allies were able to push back the Germans by 10 km faster than the Russians are doing now.

The Russians are often "clashing with reality" now:

The Russian army approached Pokrovsk in August–September 2024 by 8–10 km, but only entered the city at the end of October 2025. It took them 9–10 months to do this.

According to documents, they are supposed to break through the defense at a rate of 1.5–3 km per day. The reality is that they are advancing at ~1.5 km per month.

We've been dealing with immigration for 400 years

What we did 400 years ago should have no relevance toward what we do today. We can see the issues immigration is currently causing and the potential problems down the road. The "we are a nation of immigrants" line is so tired.

Nothing in our founding documents tells us to operate that way either.

Get rid of birthright citizenship and maybe there is an argument. But I don't really like that idea either. Just lock down our borders and make it easier for people who are actually useful to get here and stay here.

The Institute for the Study of War released their assessment of the Russian offensive this year. Not surprisingly, Russia did next to nothing:

Intitue for the Study of War: Russia took an additional 0.77% of Ukraine in 2025

Here's the tl;dr version:

"Russian forces have gained 0.77 percent of Ukrainian territory since the start of 2025 while suffering disproportionately high personnel costs. ISW has observed evidence to assess that Russian forces have seized roughly 4,669 square kilometers since January 1, 2025. Data from the Ukrainian General Staff indicates that Russian forces have suffered a total of 391,270 casualties in that time – or about 83 casualties per square kilometer. The Russian rate of advance has not exceeded a footpace, even in areas where Russian forces have been making relatively quicker gains recently, such as in the Hulyaipole and Pokrovsk directions. Russian advances are unlikely to move faster than a footpace in the near- to medium- term. The drone-dominated battlefield denies Russian forces the ability to conduct maneuver warfare at the scale necessary for rapid, operational-level advances that restore maneuver to the battlefield.[8] Ukraine’s drone-based defenses have some vulnerabilities (e.g. weather factors) that Russian forces have managed to exploit to make tactically significant advances, but Ukraine’s drone defenses overall have denied Russian forces the ability to use armored vehicles and conduct mechanized maneuver and have forced Russian forces into grinding attritional infantry missions. This equilibrium is unlikely to change rapidly, barring any sudden changes in the fundamental technologies and operational concepts underpinning the current war in Ukraine."

The Russian military sucks.
The Russian economy sucks harder.
The Russian leaders suck hardest.

And our current administration sucks all of them off.

We all underestimated the Europeans.

What's interesting to me is that the Europeans have about $240B in seized Russian assets while the Americans only have about $5B. What this tells me is that the Russians thought they'd have a MUCH easier time getting the money back from the Europeans than the Americans, not anticipating Trump's presidency. If that money had been switched it would be an ENTIRELY different ballgame right now, LOL.

I agree, illegal immigration, unchecked immigration in huge numbers is a huge problem,

The solution is in the middle.

Orchestrated, organized immigration to bring in the workers we need and the go getters we need who will hold down good jobs and be properly compensated is the American way.
