Russian police are investigating the death of the latest prominent figure to fall to his death from a window.
The secretive head of Pravda publishing house, Vyacheslav Leontyev, 87, plunged 70ft from his home in western Moscow.
He was in charge of the famous Soviet newspaper Pravda - or Truth - the main organ of the ruling Communist Party, and continued in the role long after the collapse of the USSR in 1991.
He must be feeling really threatened by his own people.
EDIT: Now that I think of it, it's possible this "accident" may be the result of that Pravda story last week which reported on the gasoline shortage in Moscow and other cities in Russia.
That probably didn't set well with Ms. Putina.

Russia has changed its tactics for striking the energy sector — Kyiv media
??This is reported by the deputy director of a Ukrainian electronic warfare equipment manufacturing company, Khrapchinsky.
??According to him, Russian strikes are becoming more effective. Now more missiles and drones are flying to targets simultaneously from different directions.
??Russia knows where the Ukrainian air defense is located and its reload times.
?"If earlier Russia targeted large transmission system facilities, now the targets are distribution system facilities — regional energy companies and others that local authorities have not managed to reinforce due to lack of funds," he says."

US Supreme Court won't review Russian bank's appeal over MH17 downing.
And as it was upheld and the lawsuit satisfies provisions of the U.S. Anti-terrorism law, a plaintiff's wet dream, Russian property held outside of Russia is now fair game for anyone within US jurisdiction. As the very real possibilities for success can be transferred to other jurisdictions, the lawyers will be lining up worldwide.

The U.S. Supreme Court declined on Oct. 6 to review an appeal by Sberbank over a lawsuit saying the Russian bank did business with Russian proxy forces responsible for the downing of a Malaysia Airlines airliner in Ukraine in 2014.
The move enables the family of Quinn Schansman, an 18-year-old American passenger killed in the MH17 crash, to sue the Russian bank under the U.S. anti-terrorism law.
The plane was shot down on July 17, 2014, over territory held by Russian proxy forces in Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast, killing all 283 passengers and 15 crew members on board.

Schansman's family has sought damages from Sberbank, arguing that the largest Russian bank has funneled money to Russian proxy forces in Donetsk Oblast.
After the Russian Finance Ministry acquired the majority share of Sberbank, the state-controlled lender argued that it is immune from the lawsuit under the U.S. Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act.
A district court in New York ruled in February that foreign sovereign immunity grounds do not apply in a case involving the use of the U.S. banking system to channel funds to Russian proxy forces.
Sberbank has since sought to overturn the New York court's ruling. Ukraine has welcomed the Supreme Court's decision, noting it sets an "exceptionally important legal precedent."
"Russian commercial entities can be held accountable in U.S. courts for damages caused by Russia and the terrorist organizations it controls," said top presidential aide Andriy Yermak.
"If the lawsuit is upheld, it will send a powerful signal to all entities that directly or indirectly fund Russian aggression: accountability can no longer be avoided.".

The Russians are dominating multiple areas of the front including sustained progress in eastern Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk,
Kupyansk, Lyman and Siversk fronts.
Pokrovsk/Dobropillya front is back under Russian initiative with Ukrainian units having failed to reverse the early August breakthrough. The defense of Pokrovsk is also experiencing setbacks as Russian advances have cleared a large high rise section of the city.
The Ukrainians are now actively encircled southeast of Kostyantynivka, north of Zarichne, and in the city center of Kupyansk.
The effect of continued Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy and railway infrastructure is difficult to assess but it can’t be having a positive effect and is likely impacting day to day operations both in the rear and at the front.
A few of the primary Russian objectives (IMO) are now weeks away from completion."

Wow. With this kind of domination, and the crippling manpower shortages on the Ukraine side, when should we expect a major breakthrough?

Russia continues to attack Ukraine Energy Infrastructure. I believe we are seeing a pattern here. My guess is that Putin has decided to make unlivable conditions for Ukraine citizens. Forcing another Migrant crisis for Europe

That would be a way to end it quicker if it works. Seems like Putin is willing to try anything at this point especially with the US considering sending tomahawks to Ukraine.

Guess what, Russia tried this in the Winter of 2022/2023.
It didn't work. Ukraine was able to replace its old antiquated Soviet equipment with modern Western equipment

Ukraine has way more Flamingo type cruise missiles than it would have Tomahawks. The Flamingo has a longer range and a much larger payload. The big difference is accuracy and ability to avoid air defenses.
