Witkoff reportedly really didn't want to have to take the long train ride to Kyiv. So, before these latest negotiations even start, Russia has indicated exactly how unwilling it is to even consider any compromises. Attacking the Ukrainian airports was kind of an official notice to Kushner and Witkoff.
