Several cities in Ukriane are sitting without power. Ignore the "shelling" bit, it was due to ballistic and large drone strikes.

tell us what you mean. I can never get specifics, and it seems like you might have some real insight here.
No one is gonna convince me Russia is this inept it’s a matter of numbers. Will Trump eventually stop it all. And when I don’t know and when that happens it’s over for them

In your imagination. European nations are buying not US is giving. Belgium sure looks like it is about to release the $300 billion for Ukraine.
Russians are in lines miles long to fuel their cars with rationed gasoline. Russia is now IMPORTING fuel. IMO this is more about refining process units wearing out without proper skilled labor or supplies to perform turnarounds.
Russia is selling natural gas at about breakeven prices to China and India instead of at a profit to EU nations who are paying less now than in 2021.
It's the economy stupid and the Russian economy is kept afloat by military purchases at inflated costs, including manpower.

Inside Ukraine's fight to stop Russia near Kupiansk as war evolves
The city of Kupiansk has become a focal point of Russia’s renewed offensive in Kharkiv Oblast. After crossing the Oskil River, Russian forces have begun infiltrating Ukrainian lines in small assault groups, while the battlefield becomes increasingly dominated by swarming drones. The Kyiv Independent’s Francis Farrell and Nick Allard spent a day with the 15th National Guard Brigade, known as Kara-Dag, to document how artillery crews and drone operators are adapting their tactics to counter Russia’s advance and defend Kupiansk under constant aerial threat.

You may want to check the math on that one
quote:
No one is gonna convince me Russia is this inept
quote:
it’s a matter of numbers.
You're right about that. Here's the number that matters: The GDP of the nations supporting Ukraine is cumulatively 35x the GDP of Russia. It's a matter of money. One side has it and the other doesn't.
quote:
Will Trump eventually stop it all
It seems like you inverted those two words and meant to say that Trump will eventually stop it.
Remember that Trump is the one who got Johnson to unblock the $68 billion (or whatever it was) that was stalled in Congress. Johnson went to MAL for a meeting with Trump, returned to Washington, and announced that he was now supporting the aid bill to Ukraine. That was Trump.
I realize that the geopolitical construct of this situation doesn't fit with your idea of the way things should be. Or the way you want them to be. Putin isn't an idiot. And right now he feels pretty much the same way you do: "How the heck did this happen? And why are things they way they are?"
Reality is funny that way.

Some can only see a tree and not a forest.
As an example a high school classmate was a 1st engineer on a US flag tanker by the late 1970's and told me that while we were having gasoline shortages here in Louisiana that he was hauling gasoline from Norco LA to Wilmington CA then hauling gasoline back to Norco. What he didn't know was that he was hauling unleaded gasoline to CA and leaded gasoline back to LA. Only CA required catalytic converters back then so only CA required unleaded fuel. Shell had not yet installed an alkylation unit at its refinery there, but had one at its refinery in Norco. The alkylate is used to upgrade the octane of gasoline to regular.

Russia is just China's proxy. China funds Russia via loans, while supplying electronic parts and engines for its drones. It also provides satellite intel which Russia doesn't have the capability on its own to provide realtime satellite data

I don’t agree with the latest support Trump threw Ukraines way at all. Trump wants it over Biden and Obama made it our problem I think the majority of the American people want the money to stop being given to them. When did Ukraine deserve American tax dollars and we not takin care of us 1st I personally don’t give a shite about Ukraine if we stop aiding Ukraine then the rest of Europe needs to be funding it not us. But that’s what THE politicians in DC do

Wrong, Europe is paying for it and US companies are making it.

Likely the opposite is true and Ukraine will get all of the equipment, aircraft, pilots and crews that they need because nobody trusts the Putin, Nork, China and Iran axis for good reason.

You think Ukrainians will magically sprout fighting age males? They're only useful until they run out of manpower, then they're dead weight.

By your logic Ukros are also China's proxy and so is US most of the world who buys all products from china. Look at your household, most of your shite is made in China.

Russia too is limited. They have to ration their missiles to be effective.

Key Takeaways Russian forces conducted a large, combined missile and drone strike against Ukraine on the night of October 2 to 3, increasingly leveraging missiles in large but infrequent strike packages.
Russian forces likely stockpiled ballistic and cruise missiles throughout September 2025 to conduct a few large scale drone and missile strikes on select days. Russian forces are likely leveraging recent upgrades to Russian ballistic missiles to improve their ability to penetrate Ukrainian air defense systems. Russia continues to escalate its destabilization efforts against Europe as European officials continue to report unidentified drones operating in their airspace.
The Kremlin continues efforts to undermine Western-brokered peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina, likely as part of a larger campaign to divide and distract Europe. Norway and Ukraine’s European partners opened the largest training center for Ukrainian military personnel in Poland on October 1.
Ukrainian forces recently advanced near Pokrovsk and Velykomykhailivka, and Russian forces recently advanced in northern Kharkiv Oblast.

Chornaya Iskra translates to Black Spark
Russian partisans helped Ukraine strike Leningrad Oblast oil refinery
Roman Petrenko — 4 October, 15:21
It has emerged that Ukraine's Special Operations Forces (SOF) coordinated with the Russian insurgent group Chornaya Iskra (Black Spark) to strike the Kirishinefteorgsintez oil refinery in Russia's Leningrad Oblast on the night of 3-4 October.
Source: Ukraine's Special Operations Forces
Details: The Ukrainian military confirmed that they hit both the LAB-LABS unit, responsible for producing linear alkylbenzols and linear alkylaromatic sulphonates, and the ELOU-AVT-6 unit, used for water, salt removal and primary oil processing.
The refinery has caught fire for the third time in 2025.
Quote: "Successful special operations followed precise coordination and planning between Ukraine's SOF and members of Chornaya Iskra.
Regional authorities and local residents confirmed the strike and the fire at Kirishinefteorgsintez refinery."
Background: Earlier, Ukrainian forces confirmed striking multiple critical Russian targets on the night of 3-4 October, including an oil refinery.

Ukrainian forces tried to score another “online victory” yesterday, posting photos of what they claimed was a U.S. Patriot air defense system, covered with dozens of markings supposedly representing intercepted Russian missiles.
But the truth surfaced quickly — the pictures showed not a Patriot, but a Soviet-era S-125 “Neva” radar in its Polish SC modification, likely transferred from Poland’s old stockpiles.
The stunt came right on cue. Ukrainian and Western outlets recently reported a sharp drop in Patriot effectiveness against Russian ballistic missiles — from 37% to just 6%. Clearly, Kiev needed an urgent PR distraction."

So an old radar system is clocking out Soviet missiles? Great.

Thanks for posting, we need some new talent in this thread.
To try to add clarity to a contentious topic, the US taxpayers were sending financial and military support to Ukraine under Biden, but that stopped with Trump. The current process of sending US arms and other support to Ukraine is that Ukraine buys all of it from US manufacturers, thus benefitting US taxpayers directly and indirectly.
Where do the Ukrainians get the billions required to keep fighting against Russia and winning this fight? Well, from Russia.
Yes, that's no typo. Russia is paying for all of it. You see, the Russian government had between $280 and $330 billion invested in the EU and US when the war started. Putin expected this whole operation to take a couple of weeks at the most, so he made no provision for pulling this money out and returning it to Moscow.
This money was quickly frozen by the Western countries and has been sitting in that condition ever since. Much of the debt issues have fully matured, so these funds were rolled over into money market accounts. Which of course generate huge spreads for the [CoughBelgiansCough] managers, but we digress.
So now, the Ukrainians are being given the interest on this portfolio*, which is currently over $7 billion per year. More importantly, the EU loaned Ukraine $50 billion last year, using the Russian portfolio as collateral. And the paperwork on more loans are signed when needed.
So with massive irony, the Russians are paying for the Ukrainian war effort. And will pay for the recovery after they finally are driven out of Ukraine. Well, maybe it won't be 'Russia' that pays for the recovery, as that country will be splintered beyond recognition after Putin bolts for China, but that $300 billion that is growing every year will do it.
* Note: For the trust attorneys in the audience, this is not 'portfolio interest', but 'interest on this portfolio'. Calm down.
