Again your point?

That doesn't make american slavery any less of an atrocity.

Do you not see it idiotic you sound?

America is not inherently more evil because of a civil war. You can just as easily say they went to war to free slaves as they did to keep them. Name a country that went to war to free slaves. See, that’s a double edged sword.

I agree. I just find it strange that racist traitors are glorified like they are.. and while that may not be evil.. it's pretty despicable

What does that have to do with anything?

So your argument is see other people did it too?

I don't get what your point is?

You are a wedge, truly. The point is that human beings throughout their history were deficient in humane ways to treat other humans. It still goes on, and improvements are being made all the time, mostly due to Western culture. The point is, unless you can do something to help stop what is going on, suck it up. All societies have suffered from slavery, and the point is, it is impossible to isolate any one culture as far as blame is concerned. But, changing one's Christian name to an Arab one, is the height of ignorance, and keeping the Arab name after Larry Elder's lesson, is the height of stupidity, envy, and obstinance. LINK

Actually, American slavery was docile as frick in comparison to slavery around the world. But don’t let that distract you.

Slavery, in today’s world, is horrible. We, as humans, have evolved to a point that we can see this and, for the most part, have eliminated slavery. In parts of the world where they are not as culturally and technologically advanced as we are in western civilization, slavery is still active.

So, knowing that slavery is still active in pockets across the globe, would it not be more noble and righteous to target those who commit the horrible act of slavery TODAY, rather than focus on the slavery of the past?

You can’t judge those in the past with today’s standards, but you sure as frick can judge the people who commit slavery TODAY.

Who said anything about what is best for this country? That seems like an odd take from someone who is typically wary of government intentions

My name-changing friend did not know that slavery occurred on every continent except Antarctica.
You tell that to the male emperor penguins who were just looking for some action only to find out they have to 24-7 slave work in the most grueling conditions:

The male spends the dark winter incubating the egg in his brood pouch, balancing it on the tops of his feet, for 64 consecutive days until hatching.

In general, it's horribly both socially and economically to keep an underclass down.

So, your belief is that we're so racist we are willing to suffer greatly just for some archaic ideal that most don't really believe in? It makes absolutely no sense.

It is strange how many black people ignore the current Slavery situation in Africa and the Middle East yet still talk about it from 150 years ago and still bring up Jim Crow when places like Los Angeles, Chicago, NYC, Baltimore, Detroit, Boston, etc never had Slavery or Jim Crow but black people in those places still have the same problems as blacks people in the south. Why is that? It isn’t slavery or Jim Crow so what could it be?

Nobody is glorifying them for wanting to keep their slaves. If they are, it’s not very many people at all.

People like to call out racism when people defend wanting to keep up Robert E Lee’s statues but he was a man who learned from his mistakes and without him the war wouldn’t have ended when it did. He was essential to bringing the country back together after the war ended. Some people are inherently evil but others are just ignorant and stubborn to change. You have to remember a very small percentage of the population even owned slaves and most of the soldiers didn’t own any slaves at all.

BMY is merely repeating the argument that all African nations use when trying to explain that they are not really shite hole countries.

It's white man's fault. It's colonization.
It's everything about my new sig quote below.

You are broadening the definition of slavery to mean any form of labor that is not completely free. Slavery hardly exists anywhere in the world today.
