re: Lane Kiffin blames Colonel Rebel, Conf Flag and name Ole Miss as reasons he left

Until his antics last fall; I was a fan of his and I really wanted him at AU when we hired Freeze. Now, I am glad we didn’t get him. He is a very good coach no doubt, but total garbage as a human. I am looking forward to enjoying the inevitable Kiffin meltdown in a few years at LSU. Him saying what he did in Vanity Fair was a little bitch move by the conference’s token bitch.

Of course you could have. You were shopping for the kind of response you desired,

You're a dumbass.
Lincoln did not free the slaves in the North. The Emancipation Proclamation only applied to enslaved people in the Confederate states in rebellion, not in the Union states where slavery was still legal.
Abraham Lincoln was not an abolitionist, even though he morally opposed slavery and eventually played the decisive role in destroying it. You also might want to look up Matson v. Ashmore et al. for the use of Bryant, 1847) and the 13th Ammendment.
Historians consider Sherman to be one of the greatest general of the civil War, but dumbasses are free to disagree.

I really had no stance on Lane either good or bad prior. But now I do and he’s a garbage person. He used race to grift recruiting and I will never view him the same again. Its unforgivable to me. We need to move on from that and people like Lane just keep taking us backwards not forward.
Wait, so speaking honestly is now considered moving backwards?
Ole Miss is a cesspool of rich white kids who party hard.
that school is about the easiest to get into in the SEC...
Ole Miss doesn't need to apoligize for being a mostly white school, in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by poverty...
Drive to Oxford- it's wild what you see on the way there...
LSU has it's own problems
Baton Rouge isn't considered a great city to live in...
LSU campus like many are "beautiful"
but the reality is, a black grandmother might actually have pause about sending their kids to Ole MIss
Why?
Because of experiences in the south and the perception they might have of Ole Miss.
I don't like people who sugar coat reality
I respect Lane more for what he said
though, I would want to see the video tape, not some butched up news article

What? Had I posted on sports board the first reply woulda been saying it belongs on pol board. Posted here because of the content being racial in nature and thats not a good topic for sports board. Correct me if I’m wrong

Lane stayed at Ole Miss for 6 years! If he was so convicted in his stance then no way he stays that long. He is being a race baiter and I don’t like he did that in sports.
Explain why he stayed 6 years if he hated the school because of racial issues. That alone tells me who he is. A grifter who will use anything including race to advance his career. I don’t like those type people.

Lol let me break it down for you in terms you can understand since you tried to Google it with a gotcha. The Confederacy was a separate nation until the end of the Civil War therefore Lincoln had no power over them. Which means the only slaves that it applied to were areas under Union control. And yes Lincoln was against slavery, he just preferred saving the Union more. Sherman never faced the most competent generals from the South so sure he was a genius against undermanned and under supplied units

Not sure if it's already been mentioned, but I know a lot of AA folks who have vowed not to watch LSU football anymore because of this, which they associate w/ Trump

Also, he needed that “slow pace of racist Oxford more than Oxford needed him”.
Wouldn’t be surprised if that pussy has cried to get that documentary pulled.

He's just low on character. It goes back to his Raider days. I seriously doubt he's gonna take LSU as far as he did Ole Miss and he'll be sorry he left.

Youre really reaching here. He talked about, in an appareently far reaching interview, about difficulties he had in recruiting some black players to Ole Miss, a school that, much more than others, is identified with the Confederate flag, has a mascot in Colonel Reb that gives obvious connotations to an era of slavery. It definitely wasnt smart to go down that route, but can you really dispute anuything he said?

It has nothing to do with that, its what perception is across the football landscape.
Majority of sports fans are not dialed in like this board. And all they see is “Ole Miss is racist”. And “SEC is a racist conference”.
Thats what most will see and thats the damage Lane did. So many race baiting grifters will use that at any opportunity not just sports related either.
He did not need to being racial issues into the discussion. And easily could just say that topic is off limits. But he chose violence. And thats how I’ll always view him going forward. Never had an honest opinion of him prior. Was just a goofy guy who occasionally post some funny tweets.
But that changed. On this country we need to stop using race as excuses. We were on track until Obama regime happened. And Lane is just another race baiting grifter. He didn’t even bat an eyelash to associate racism with Ole Miss. No matter how bad the blood is between them - thats a no go zone.
It has nothing to with anything other than Lane using race to advance his football career. In my book he’s a race grifter and it has zero to do with his coaching and 100% to do with the sport of football how he just hurt it and the conference.
And thats an opinion most sports fans will have who are not LSU fans. It created un-healable wounds. It was 100% avoidable.

Agreed, it would have been better to steer clear of that topic. It is a no win situation. Lane will never not be his own worst enemy in many ways.
"But he chose violence."
Holy overreaction. He chose "violence"? how will anyone ever survive him bringing up topics that have been around for decades. I generally despise the idiotic word "panican", but maybe that's what we have here.

This has been objectively true for a long time in south louisiana.
Whether people like it or not, this area of the country figured out how to live with each other better than any location in the US.
LOL. You may wanna take a look at #2 and #3.

Data guru Nate Silver crunched the numbers last week on the FiveThirtyEight blog, looking at the 100 largest cities in the country and ranking them by levels of racial segregation. Chicago, long plagued by stark racial divisions, came in at number one. Next on the list was Atlanta, which beat out St. Louis, Philadelphia and Milwaukee for the number two spot. Baton Rouge and New Orleans also made the list of the 10 most segregated U.S. cities.

Of course you will defend him or call other posters out - you are a fan of the team he is now coaching.
But away from LSU this is not going over well. He can’t undo or take back the damage he did. He intentionally tried to destroy OM with his words and grifted off of racism to do so. I’m an OU fan but hate he did this to another conference team. Plus it makes the whole conf look bad as well. Others will now say SEC is racist and OM is proof. I don’t like that and neither should anyone
If you look at this objectively you would see it too. As a head coach he should never have taken shots at his prior team using race as his main point. He is now and always will be labeled as a race baiting grifter

I don’t care what nate silver thinks when all of us grew up with black neighbors, friends, classmates, and coworkers.
As opposed to your wisconsin arse, a state with a 6% black population…
so diverse.
Louisiana and Mississippi are in the 30’s

Carry this shite back to the SEC Rant where it belongs. I don't give a damned what Lane Kiffin has to say and I'm smart enough to know it has zero effect on racism in this country.
