Any place I've ever worked, handicapped people with accomodations have done the work.

So, maybe you've just had some bad experiences.

No. I'd be glad to have a job but I would look for something else immediately.

In my field, there's way too many WFH jobs out there to not go get one.

Or I could just not commit payroll fraud and enter in an hour of sick leave for a doctors appointment AND get paid The problem is the WFH folks that are not entering any kind of time AND still getting paid for non-working matters like doctor appointments. That is fraud.

Might be a foreign concept to you but some companies don’t care or even require people to enter sick leave. Mine does not. Been there 20 years. If I’m sick or need to go to the doctor all I do is tell my boss. He couldn’t care less about it as long as my work gets done. You must work for some boomer arse company.

Exactly. This makes me wonder what kind of jobs the people on this board who profess to hate WFH actually have

The WFH discussion on this board really shows how much people in Louisiana work for O&G and plants stuck in 1980.

Same here. I started with a new company in Dec. and requested to take off for a doctor's appointment in Jan. My boss denied it and Teamed me saying that's not necessary, just let them know. They want me to use my PTO for "fun" stuff. It's that kind of shite right there that makes an employee want to do a stellar job for a company.

If you aren't doing your job, whether in the office or at home, then you're fired. Simple as that. Why all the performance. If people are productive at home, let them be there and have more time with their family, and keep the roads clear of traffic for me.

This attitude is what has fricked America.

Ah. Makes sense. I didn't think about that. No wonder they're all grumpy about WFH

This is pretty much the norm these days.

Wait til some of these folks on this board who hate WFH hear about unlimited PTO

Who cares if someone works from home...You can't tell me that people arent productive from home or that companies don't have people working from home.

It's cheaper to let people work from home, and now we have an issue where there arent enough desks because the space for desks became used for other things, and desks were no longer needed

People who work remotely do many things they don't do if in an office....mow grass, go grocery shopping, doctors appts etc. I think a person working from home should offer to take a cut in pay, if they are so hell bent on it, they don't have to commute to work, use gas, take as long to get ready etc.

No reason they should be paid the same staying home. And all employees who don't do their job at work or at home should lose their job.

you have to be trolling? No way you actually think this is a real idea, or even a bad idea.

I take my lunch break and do many things around the house, laundry...pick up the yard, do the dishes. It makes my weekends more free. I also get all my work done, and honestly I am more willing to work a little later or get on my cpu at night and do some work. My weekends are more free and my GF is far more happier with the state of the house. Why should we discourage that?

also..I dont use company electricity, desks, chairs, internet, water, I think I should get a pay raise since I dont use these things. See how that works?

We have people remote that run hard from 7 am to 9 pm on the weekdays (even some weekends) depending on the project.
The office group signs on at 9 am and turns off at 4 pm. We could be in the middle of a major project and the lights go out at the office. Period. They simply say good night and sign out.
Those of us that keep the work going earlier and much later find it pathetic.
It goes both ways.

and apparently your job is so easy it can be done at home so you should make less...sorry you can't comprehend that some peoples jobs are needed in office bc it would cost more money for a company to make copies of work that is needed at a moments notice but would be way to expensive to copy and send out to multiple people.

Electrical engineer here....My job isn't "easy" but it is fully remote. Sorry youre too stupid to comprehend that hard jobs can still be done at home. And no...sharepoint and teams are a thing. We used it in office and also out of office. It costs the exact same.

Work from home is awesome for jobs that require a lot of extended concentration to work through a problem.

On the flip side, trying to crank out plans while extroverted bubba wants to talk about LSU recruiting is tougher.

This is what we get when the workforce is structured with too much weight given to seniority in promotion decisions.

That is me currently. I dont mind being in office a few times a week, but there no point in commuting there if the office is going to be half full at best. The few days the office is mostly full, everyone has their airpods in and doesnt leave their office and/or cubicle anyways

I would prefer a hybrid situation overall, but if this is what hybrid looks like I would rather go full remote. No point in wasting an hour+ a day just to sit on a teams call you can take from your home office

Low performers are very easy to root out. Anyone saying otherwise is not a good manager. If you cant tell if someone is working when remote, how do you know they are working at the office? Are you standing over their shoulder all day

THIS>

There are certain job functions that are prefect for home, and some are not.
It's not that hard people! Every company and government agency should be able to make this determination.....

For some reason, the world makes issues way harder than they really are.

He sounds like an hourly employee from his comment and not entering sick time and still getting paid.

I think that's the issue with many of them here. They are hourly employees who only know operational/manufacturing work, so their brains can't comprehend office work.
