They’re gonna FAFO aren’t they?

I mean I prefer Hunter but Marshall isn't some radical.
51/58 in. Hunter looks toast.
Unless those last 7 precincts are about 80/20 Hunter he's DOA

It’s official Simien wins with 52% of the vote. I know these Spring elections have terrible turnouts, but 14k total votes is embarrassing for a mayoral election. That’s less than a 20% turnout

Typically that's terrible for the Democratic candidate.
I think that that is actually high compared to the other races but I haven't done the math
The Deridder mayoral race was decided by 10 votes

LC city limits is majority black now. I figured if Simien could get a decent turn out that Nick would lose.
I am just outside of city limits so I can't vote but the race will affect me as they are adding water lines and city sewer out here with plans to expand the city limits soon.
I did appreciate that Simien rejected Carter's endorsement. Carter's son was pissed Simien rejected the endorsement and released a statement basically making it out like his dad was Jesus Christ of Lake Charles.

I hope Simien can continue building on what Hunter has established. I’m all for giving him a shot. LC needs to continue expanding growth like we’ve seen the last 10 years.

I thought Simien was an independent?

Well prepare to be disappointed. He has already made it clear he wants to shift more focus to North LC and said he did not like how downtown has been handled under Nick.
I saw earlier that North LC has already received more capital investments for projects than any other part of the city so get ready to see that amplified and in 5 years it will look like shite anyway because that's what happens in that part of town.
ETA:
Here is the info and its since 2017
Lake Chares officials provide list of capital investments made in each district since 2017
quote:
District A (11,809 residents): $23,000,365 ($1,948 per capita)
District B: (12,188 residents) $11,316,573 ($929 per capita)
District C: (12,203 residents) $6,192,134 ($507 per capita)
District D: (12,462 residents) $8,980,902 ($721 per capita)
District E: (12,203 residents) $11,696,816 ($959 per capita)
District F: (12,104 residents) $14,173,004 ($1,171 per capita)
District G: (11,903 residents) $5,918,108 ($497 per capita)

It’s going to be about the same result as dumping millions into inner city schools of Baltimore. You know where I’m going with this.

Likely all just campaign talk.
Nic didn't lose because of the black vote. He lost b/c he lost support of a lot of the white vote he relied on in the past. Now why that is, exactly, I do not know, but Mashall specifically made inroads with them and I doubt he did it by making promises of investing in NLC
