Last I heard, the legislature overturned JBE's mandate & Sloth sued to continue his dictatorial powers. Never heard what happened to that. Did a court make a ruling? Latest article I can find says that the LA Supreme Court overruled the inept district court judge that said the GOP legislature was using an unconstitutional law. Until there is another ruling, the legislature removing the mask mandate stands.
That doesn't mean you can't live in fear and ignore the science that says masks are ineffective, though. I support personal freedom, unlike you democrats that want to force your insane views on everyone.

This, outside of really the downtown/hipster areas compliance is pretty low, get outside the city limits and you hardly see any. Majority here don't care and it's great.
I love when my in-laws from NOLA come to town and they're always amazed how relaxed any enforcement is here.

There’s a hell of a chance uneducated people wearing masks, touching their face over and over because of the masks, reusing masks, etc is doing more harm than good

No masks is better than forcing everyone to wear them. Lafayette is proof not wearing masks will not kill everyone or even make anything worse. In fact it might be better.

Lafayette Parish is Republican but the Acadiana region triangle was the historical democrat heart and soul of Louisiana.

I saw an interview with his widow and son ... wife said that she had it and that the husband got it from her. My husband was wondering if they were mask wearers to begin and if so then if masks work, how in the hell did she contract covid to begin with??
I HATE than anyone has died from this ... but people do die every day. He looked to be in the overweight category as well as an "advanced age" group.
It happens. I'll die one day as well ... only God knows when and where.
