Waste of time and money! why not cut some fat rather than try to raise more money?

Jindal sold off all the fat.

How about we go back to the budget we had 3 years ago? Everyone was cool with it at the time....

It would be nice if we had actual legislators. But alas, Louisiana is horrendously apathetic at the polls. Despite having awful public services, high tax rates relative to our income, and some of the most incompetent and ineffective government officials at every level......we still just keep electing the same complete retards with 40% voter participation every time. The LA Legislature has got to be the most ineffective parliamentary body in history. But its citizens are just as bad, if not worse.

Unfortunately the 10-15% of voters who don't deserve what they get are overwhelmed by the moochers and ignorant.
There were decent people in Venezuela too.

The one that used a bunch of one-time money and fund sweeps and tricks to get it to work?
The one-time money and fund balances are all gone. And the bag of tricks is empty.

We are paying 60K a day for this crap. If they aren't going to approve any taxes, just send them home tonight, save the rest of the money, and try something else later on.

Jindal sold a lot of fat, but Louisiana still has a lot more fat to sale. If you honestly think that there is no more fat in Louisiana's budget you have a flesh eating microbe eating away at your brain.

Jindal gets blamed all the time for our current problems. I was very disappointed in the last term, but let's look at the current situation objectively.
La. doesnt have enough revenue to support the current level of spending. Oil revenues coupled with a bad economy hurt, and instead of raising taxes Jindal used creative accounting and one time money to balance his budgets. He didn't cut programs he let grow. TOPS took off and the Film Credits boomed.
Two plus years later we see Edwards and others blaming Jindal for the situation we have now. But what do they say Jindal should have done? Raise taxes that's what. It can't be for not making cuts becsuse they aren't pushing spending cuts only new taxes.
From where I sit Jindal's mistake was not limiting TOPS, the Film Credit scam, not reforming nursing home rules and not broadening the tax base with avrevenue neutral reform.
These guys now want one thing more and more taxes. They are making Jindal look better and better.

Considering how much she made (still makes?) at Workforce, that may be considered cannibalism.

In the 80's, I was in the Senate in La.. One Tuesday, I went in to the Senate Committee room sideroom at 8:00 am. Edwin Edwards walked in at 8:00 and told us that we were in deficit $300,00 million dollars and we were to meet that day at 9:00 and 7 of us were to cut $300 million that day for him. We did. We cut things we thought were not necessary. One week later, same thing. We HAD to cut $200 million more, that day. We did. We simply drew a line through $500 million in two meetings, two days, that was not necessary to operate. We really went through the Budget and with our hand, drew a line through lines of spending. We did it and moved on, no taxes. True story.

Not the answer. If you don't have money to eat tonight do you go get some money from your neighbor? How about you don't eat and change the way you waste your money? I shouldn't pay for you to eat if you are shitty at managing your finances.

Constitutional reform. Back half of Jindal's first term, he was very popular, we had a lot of good R's in the legislature. That was our chance.

That’s exactly what’s about to happen.
If they don’t get anything out of the House right now the Senate won’t have time to act and the special session will end tonight.

The last of the pre-term limits generation will be term limited out of both houses next election cycle. That group of entrenched crooks represents the worst of the worst in both houses (read Alario).
Change is coming as we move from corrupt flunkies to actual retards.
