I would disagree. If you have 10 that say guilty, but 2 not guilty by self defense, then they need to discuss lesser charges in case the 2 decide to change their mind by the degree in which it was self defense.
Also, on the attempted, they might not feel he purposefully attempted to kill, so the lesser charge could be found guilty.
I do agree though, not likely a juror, even if it’s ONE, is going to change his mind on self-defense because of the degree of the crime
