They weren’t in a dog fight.

That F/A 18 fired three long range missiles at our F-15s

Number of air-to-air kills on F-15’s in 50 years of active service… 3.

This guy has all of them.

That’s my assumption. F-15’s were probably in close formation RTB’ing thinking they were feet dry in friendly territory. Wonder why they didn’t get RWR alert though?

I’m assuming this is true?

As far as I know. F15 entered service in 1976 and while there have been shoot downs from the ground, there have been no air-to-air kills that I know of until yesterday. Air-to-air kill ratio was 104-0 at one point.

Corrected. 104-0. Not 125-0.

Agree. Meant as a joke. That’s ok since all 6 survived.

Imagine the tales this guy could tell at the bar if he omitted that he shot down unsuspecting good guys.

We will see what gets released from the investigation. Hearing about this yesterday, ruined my afternoon to say the least.

Same here. My guess is fog of war. Eagles returning inbound unaware of incoming drones potentially conflicting them as targets. Kuwaiti pilot launches from BVR at 3 radar contacts.

My only question is why their RWR didn’t alert unless they had shut down. I don’t know protocol on this. Maybe someone else does.

At least no crew losses.

Highly possible if our 3 pilots knew the Kuwati was friendly but obviously the Kuwati thought they were Iranian.

This is correct. An F-15 has never been shot down in air to air combat.

And that’s still true today. Three Strike Eagles on approach in friendly territory is not air to air combat.

My guess is turned off. With the amount of traffic coming in and out of that airspace and every radar in the gulf pointed that direction, I’d imagine they’re going to be pinging on just about every band. Could also be that with so many waves pointed at them the RWR couldn’t detect the change from tracking to guidance signals.

What I am certain of is the crews will be picked on relentlessly by their squad mates. Praise God they’re alive for that.

Probably exactly what he did and F-15's never knew they were coming. No chance those miss under those circumstances.
