We agree. Let private companies do what they want and make their own decisions. Just don't let the government force the issue.

I just think we will sing a different tune if at some point in the future conservatives are targeted because they say they are opposed to abortions, trans care or believe what the Bible teaches.

What if someone lost their job because their employer disagreed with their religious views or was unhappy they owned guns.

Do we not think the government should not only not violate our rights but protect them?

I am not defending those that made horrible comments about Charlie Kirk but rather what protections do we want when exercising our rights

I want the same protections as always. If I work for a company that doesn't support my views then I keep my mouth shut or I find a new job.

So you ok with losing your job, and others, if your employers learned you exercised one your legal rights while away from work?

Yeah. It's their business. It could also come back to haunt them if they fire me for something that the majority of the public is on my side of.

I can see why people might view his comments as insensitive, etc.

Not insensitive. Inciteful (not the same as insightful). What Kimmel said was a calculated play to deflect blame away from his team and onto the victim. Given ABC operates with a license that is a public asset, unless ABC had Ted Cruz (or someone like that) to push back against Kimmel's nonsense real time, what happened could not go unchecked.

Why should Kimmel have a right to gaslight the country on a platform you and I own?

I am just an idealist.

I think our rights are our rights and they should be protected.

I get it, you don't feel the same way. We see it differntly and that is ok LOL

You have no rights to prance about and celebrate the death of a coworker or a public figure.

You can always file for unemployment.

People sign company policies every day that can affect what they write or say away from work. Businesses have a right to protect their brand and customers from some dipshits who mindlessly spout off and cross a line.

Yep, you are right.
The business can decide to fire you if they find out that you disagreed with Covid vaccine or that you are pro-life. They sure can, that is what we are discussing.

You are for it, I am against it.

Imagine one of us getting fired for our position in this discussion.

You don’t think people should be able to contract freely?

No. He thinks everyone’s job should be protected no matter what they say about anything ever.

I would not have been happy if I had been fired for not taking the vaccine.
So, however you want to classify that, that is my position.

I think there were many conservatives on this very board that was unhappy with people losing their jobs for not taking that vaccine. Something about peoples rights.

Had more to do with Nexstar and Sinclair not broadcasting.

He was starting to dip below a million viewers.

Reruns of Real Housewives was beating his show.

Gutfeld, which takes a fraction to produce, gets well over 3 million a night.

At some point this becomes about math. Nobody has silenced Kimmel. He is free to keep saying what he said. Blue skies, substack, & YouTube will welcome him.

Is this the limit of things that I cannot do on my own time away from work?
Is there nothing else that employers can fire me for saying?

Let me be clear, I find it abhorrent and evil but if you had asked me before this horrible attack if I thought it was a conservative view for people to lose their jobs for their words outside of work, I would have it was not a conservative view.

I have been corrected.
