I understand that. But the island also is responsible for handling 95% of Iranian oil exports. If he destroys their infrastructure there it would completely destroy Iran's economy.
They already built it once you don't think they can build it again, especially with oil at $200/bbl? China's influence in the region is going to skyrocket when this is over since nobody will ever trust us again.

Remember Trump promising to help these people?

It's the hub of Iran's oil industry...the primary source of the regime's finances. It is a warning shot to play nice or we will collapse your economy.

Y’all really see Iran as toothless in this (as does Trump, apparently) and I flat cannot understand it.

You already have Iran negotiating with China, with Europe, etc.
Iran has leverage on us, and Trump has put them into an existential crisis.

These people aren’t scared to crash the world’s economy, and they aren’t scared to die, and Trump just keeps ratcheting up the tension.

I sure hope he is right and he can make them blink.

What leverage? They played their economic card and oil is still only around $100 a barrel.

It’s called war. The enemy gets a vote. We’ll have to fight it out

Iran’s current situation is like Japan’s in July 1945. The only “vote” they have is when to surrender.

Their current supreme leader is living out Weekend at Bernie’s. They have A-10s operating over Iran with no opposition. That’s exactly the situation Japan had in July 1945. They are finished. The terminal TDS crowd like yourself just don’t want to admit it.

Maybe a few aren't scared to die, but fear of death is in the genes of every human. Over the millenia, the ones who didn't have that instinct have been efficiently selected out of the gene pool before they could reproduce and raise their young.

I would not say the Straits are actually “closed.” There are perceived risks to shipping still that are discouraging some ships from entering.
