I keep seeing its up 400%, 500% but this is year over year when it had already gone up almost 10 fold. So the real increase is closer to 35 times what it was 18 months ago.

They can tax the power companies all they want, but if their costs have risen astronomically, it will have to be passed on to a certain extent, unless the countries belly up.

But this is going to have huge implications on businesses, particularly exporting countries like Germany. Thats the cold hard fact

You need to run this in mmbtu/usd to compare to US price. Dutch TTF price is around $60 usd mmbtu last time I looked.

Teke, I was listening to BBC driving today (its the only talk radio I get here) and they had on this chick from the EU emergency council on energy. She said "We need to have alternative sources of energy, and we need to cap the price we pay for natural gas".

The interviewer was taken aback. Its akin to asking the Utah State coach at halftime what he needs to do and he says "We need to score points and we need to stop Alabama from scoring". So the interviewer said, thats a good strategy, why havent you done this years ago......crickets.....crickets.

Good point. I used an EU historical pricing grid so the unit and monetary measures are apples to apples, should not have said "bucks" it confuses the premise.

Now you can understand why the protests have started in Europe, my power bill went from 100 to 3500 bucks and you are sending money to Ukraine?????

Will this offer any opportunities?

Do I need a garage full of propane tanks for a lock this winter?

She better fire up the tanks and planes as if Putin doesn't want to sell at their price he won't sell at their price.

Progs are so clueless.

Maybe the smug Germans at the UN and the rest of the EU should have listened to Trump instead of laughing his warning about Russian dependency off.

If Trump were President now, we'd be supplying Europe with replacement energy, but Biden is undermining energy production if it doesn't involve green unicorn farts.

This will get very interesting.....a real serious matter.

Biden and his cronies better watch, learn, and act.....but I have no faith these treehuggers will ever go full energy independence again....TRUMP will, the first day, if he gets elected.

They are. They are formulating how to link this to trump. You know, the most dangerous threat to freedom.

Citizen k and the rainbow brigade over in the leftist circle jerk thread (Ukraine War) believe that winter in Germany will be the real life version of a Happy Gilmore dream.

I disagree 100% with their assessment.

However, if that dream comes to life, I’m moving to Germany.

In the US gas was $1.50/unit 2 years ago. Today it is between $9 and $10.

As I recall, an orange man tried to forewarn of such days.

But he was bad so they all laughed.

Oh well….

Right, and the reasons it has not risen higher, we are net exporters of natural gas, and the Freeport plant being down means a large piece of the export market volume is being sold domestically.

If the Trump policies had remained in place we would have more pipelines, more lng export capacity and we would be EATING bigly.

But hey, our lng exports to Europe, mostly Germany, at up 40% and they are paying spot not contract so Trinidad is sitting pretty.

There is absolutely no reason for natural gas to be expensive in the US other than stupid domestic policy.
