No I was t thinking that. It’s just a really complex encounter, especially if there are external factors like being in a war zone.

Saw that too. Could’ve been two tankers in a cell formation. Specs are 500’ altitude stack and 1-2 NM spread.

A Google search suggests that the standard crew is three, a pilot, co-pilot and boom operator. Hope they made it down ok.
Add a Flight Engineer, a Navigator, and a Loadmaster. It's not just a flying gas station, it can carry cargo and personnel.

No three person ops is the standard.
Two pilots
One boom operator.

Reports say 6 unaccounted for. I’m ignorant but I’m curious of your experience? 3 seems extremely unlikely. The military is almost always going to have a utility person and a crew leader

Lol three person ops is the standard on a 135.
I will bet everything I own
Unless you are augmented then you will have two crews

I really want to believe you but I need TBoy, RFK and BeauDo to confirm.

There’s a handful of KC-135s that are also receivers but I doubt that was the case here. It’s standard practice to have more than one tanker in an anchor to refuel strikers to/from the ops area, or fighters in CAPs cycling for gas, etc.
Standard crew is 3, but extra can be carried for a multitude of reasons.
