As a former City of Atlanta resident, I'm glad he didn't fork over taxpayer dough for them.
As a now-Cobb County resident living near Truist Park and paying for it via property taxes, FML.

Reed got results. He is the lone person all the black establishment in the city blame for all the evil awful 'Gentrification' that happened under his watch. That right there tells me all I need to know. Reed is pro business and he is pro revitalization/growth of the intown neighborhoods.
"Got" implies he did something to accomplish them and I'm not sure that's true. The growth and revitalization of neighborhoods were happening in Pittsburgh, in Alpharetta, in Detroit, etc. at the same time. He was mayor during the heyday of urban spring. I don't object to the idea that Reed is decent for business/growth, but I don't know why he'd be better at it than Moore. I lived in Buckhead during Reed when Felicia had part of our area and she was certainly attentive - much more so than Kasim was. She'll have a ton of support from the Buckhead neighborhoods, which says a lot IMO.

He was openly antagonistic to police corruption and police officers who would get the city sued and have to pay large settlements. Reed is pro police. He is not a defund the police type.
He was openly antagonistic toward APD period. My guys (all of whom have left APD in the last year) loathed Kasim Reed and Bottoms and love Moore. That's not determinative, but I think there has been broad consensus that Moore was the most police-friendly mayoral candidate. Obviously that has been a big divide among the Norwood/Moore side vs. the Kasim/Bottoms side.

Reed also had a decent relationship with Nathan Deal. No reason he won't carry that over to Gump Kemp. Bottoms has no relationship with well....anyone because everyone hates her.
Reed's definitely more pragmatic. But there is no getting around the fact that he's the single biggest reason we have Bottoms. She's part of the Reed crime syndicate.

Battery Park is a massive success. Can’t imagine taking my family to a ball game down by the old Turner field. What a dump that place was.

It's the Maynard Jackson crime syndicate. Each and every Mayor since Jackson has been handpicked by the existing cabal. The only way for Atlanta to truly reform is to get rid of that cabal and elect an outsider. It has been close a few times with Norwood but hasn't been able to break through. Once that group is rendered powerless things will change.

Nah frick them.
I’m glad he didn’t give a rich pro baseball club $350M of taxpayer money. If they want a new stadium they can build it with their own money.
Let Cobb County residents pay that shite for years through higher property taxes, which they are now doing and will continue to do while the Braves just get richer and mlb pulls the all star game. Although I feel bad for Cobb County homeowners because their corrupt leadership rammed it through essentially in secret. The lone public hearing they were required to have, Tim Lee had people who spoke out against it escorted out by police. He was voted out over this ballpark and then was diagnosed and died of cancer.

Thought he was still under investigation for like serious federal crimes.
Isn't that a prerequisite for being a black politician in Atlanta?

Norwood is running for one of the city council districts.

Yeah I assume when Moore announced that was with Norwood's backing and with the expectation Norwood wouldn't also run.

Ahhh, so about the same shot as she would have if she entered the race then. Got it.
( I think she won the last election, btw, but ATL is gonna ATL )

She actually makes me long for the days of Kasim Reed
Kasim Reed AND his wife were extortion artist and flat out criminals while Bottoms is just unbelievably incompetent and woke.
The city did do better under Reed but it was primarily due to gentrification and an expanding tax base. He just happened to be the mayor at the time.
