States establishing one faith’s definition of marriage over others bothered me more.
Strained logic but right results. Gay marriage always seemed like a blatant establishment issue to me.

It’s a pretty neat feature of some faiths that allowing others to practice along side them somehow mean they can’t practice theirs.
The state recognized Catholic marriages still?
What about baptist?
I know there are licenses But in LA you still need a ceremony.

I have no idea what that's supposed to mean but it's irrelevant. The court picked a definition that some people liked and some people didn't and imposed it on the country. And they left in place other prohibitions, like people who want to marry 12 year olds, because they like those prohibitions.
Shallow thinkers somehow believe that telling someone "this is wrong" is a value judgement but that telling them "this is right" is NOT a value judgement. They're both value judgements, and that's what you claim you don't want the judiciary doing. You like it just fine as long as you agree with them.

Or marrying close family members.

Puritanical fascists, I tell you. Socons just LOVE forcing their morality on others.
