As California Sen. Kamala Harris' poll numbers continue to falter, the Democratic presidential candidate is ginning up a new explanation for her flagging campaign.

In an interview with Axios on HBO posted on YouTube on Sunday, Harris questioned whether America is "ready for a woman and a woman of color to be president of the United States."

The senator called the issue of her electability the "elephant in the room" for her campaign.

quote:

"There is a lack of ability or a difficulty in imagining that someone who we have never seen can do a job that has been done 45 times by someone who is not that person," she said.

Harris rejected the argument that America is necessarily ready for a black woman to be president after electing Barack Obama to the office in 2008 and again in 2012.

America is ready for a woman and/or a woman of color. What everyone knows and the polling shows is we are not ready for a count like you.

She is 100% smug when she is hammering a Republican appointee, arrogant in committees and awkward interviews at times...a stupid laugh...

In other words, she isn't likable, she offers nothing but division and big government, ...iMHO she isn't a serious candidate...

her skin color just makes a good excuse

So... the quid pro quo senator from a single party state finds it hard to run for the big prize.

Didn’t her own party discourage her from running? Didn’t she think that might be a sign it wouldn’t be sunshine and lollipops considering they fixed the last primary for Hillary?

Yeah because being a wh*te male (hetero, cis, he/him/his pronouns) in modern America is so popular with her voting base.

Maybe you just suck? Ever think about that?

I love identity politics.

If that’s all she has to offer, she needs to drop out.

Why is that a question? Seems to be true in both senses.

Who can be the bigger victim? How and when did this become a race people want to win? How about go DO something good for yourself, or someone else?

Pussification of America on full display.

It’s not America that’s not ready for a woman of color for president. Just Democrats in the primary. They’re the ones rejecting you.

agreed

And to think she was one who I feared would be most effective vs Trump.

Since I have been so totally wrong about primary candidates for the past 3 years I think I should retire.

Her mentality is holding her back. Her ideology is holding her back. Her strategy is holding her back.

She's trying to guilt people into voting for her. It's a tired narrative

I thought Slow Joe would put up the best fight but he may get TKOed before the first primary.

She had an opportunity after her “That girl was me” moment to get into the top tier but she blew it because she’s pretty bad off the cuff. She flipped flopped on universal health care and then Tulsi gave her a body body blow.

Has nothing to do with her race or gender.

Just laying the ground work for her folding up the tent and closing shop. Her POTUS campaign is done.
