Kabul embassy getting ready to shred its files and gtfo

At least South Vietnam lasted about 3 years after we ceased hostilities. And mainly failed because the Watergate Babies refused to send military aid as promised to South Vietnam.

They need to go ahead, evacuate everyone, and demo the embassy down to the dirt.
Kabul will be taken by this time next week, and the Taliban are going to take the embassy along with it.
ETA: Also, am I blind or does the NPR article that talks about the memo not actually contain the memo?

Nothing good came out of our occupation. So many lives lost and irreparably damaged.. So much money wasted. For what? To go back to how things were 21 years ago. I was born in 1977 so I missed the Vietnam era. But I have to assume this is familiar territory to those of you that were around during those times and our leaving Saigon.

There is a reason city after city is falling with almost zero bloodshed. All the money we sent was never used for its intended purpose.

Very true which is why most of the tribal leaders in the conquered areas negotiated neutrality pacts with the Taliban (per cbc link posted in another thread).
