For crying out loud. Biden ordered flags to be flown at half mast when Rosalynn Carter croaked. What the f@$% was she known for? Being married to an American hating turncoat?

Losing Dolly IS a national tragedy

Any death is a tragedy.

Surely you are not comparing Rush Limbaugh to Dolly Parton? I liked Rush. But the two are not comparable
The comment is easy enough to read.

I disagree, and I liked Dolly Parton.
The act has been cheapened to the point of almost irrelevance.
Soon it will be going down again for 9/11. Is an 80 year old entertainer’s death the same as the events of 9/11?

And what exactly have you contributed to the betterment of society? I’ll answer for you. Absolutely nothing.

Is that the standard? You morons will whine about everything. This is just another OMB meltdown.
Biden had 48 such orders. Can you please link us to your criticism of any one of those?

Dolly wasn't despised by anyone. That's the point.
As much as I liked Rush, he was hated by a lot of people.
We are discussing a person in Dolly Parton, who was as universally liked as any American in history.
No one disliked Dolly Parton, unless they were just being purposefully contrarian.

Is there some cost per day that I am unaware of? Why would you care if it was 1 day or 7 days?

I said he was loved by all true Americans and despised by anti-Americans.
Baseball, hotdogs, apple pie, Chevrolet. You could just as easily add Rush Limbaugh to that list as you could Dolly Parton.
Be careful sport, you’re starting to give off a “3XB” vibe.

frick off. You're the moron who compared Rush Limbaugh to Dolly Parton.
I don't believe Rush would have made such a comparison.

Big Dolly fan. But you are right.

Quit assuming I’m a leftist just because don’t agree with everything. I disagreed with this practice before Trump.
I first noticed this ramp up during Obama, and assumed he was doing because he was a petty, angry man.

No. That’s why there will be far more events commemorating the latter, professor.

Oh horseshite. The flag is lowered in remembrance of a distinguished American who has made significant contributions to society. Dolly definitely fits this description.
You’ve picked an especially stupid hill to die on here and you’re defending your stance in the most absurd way possible by setting the bar at showing respect for a distinguished American at nothing less than a catastrophic event on the level of 9/11.

You were no doubt just as supportive of the practice when Obama lowered the flag for Dorothy Height. Or when we lowered it for Queen Elizabeth.
Of when we just lowered it for Lindsey Graham. Of when it was done for Diane Feinstein. When I think of significant contributions to all of America I think of those 2 career politicians first and foremost.
Are we also going to lower it for Oprah? Willie Nelson? Bill Gates?

Is it your stance that flag lowering should be enshrined into federal law with a strict set of qualifications?
This is a purely ceremonial procedure and, while I may not agree with everyone who is honored, I recognize that it is a trivial thing that the President and/or the legislature should have the ability to decide and implement on any buildings under their purview.

My stance is the lowering should be for nationally significant tragedies as 9/11, Challenger explosion, etc. The way it was for the majority of my life before Obama showed up.
I want the act to actually mean something like it did traditionally.
I like Dolly. But an 80 year old person dying of natural causes after living a full life doesn’t fit the definition of a tragedy, unless we all expected that person to live forever.
