overtime should 100% be taxed.
Have you ever worked an 84 hour week only to get your check a see that your “time and a half” overtime pay was effectively cut to regular time pay because of taxes? It’s pretty disheartening for people who bust their asses to try to improve their lives
Yes, for 34 years.

And again, you are not seeing the whole picture at all. You are operating under the assumption that this is all there is. You are going off of 1 CBO report. And that is not the whole picture.
It’s apparent they are fighting for another CR.

Now add the other things in that cut that predicted deficit.

Is that what it is? I thought it was something different where the government put x amount of money in a savings account for every newborn. There is a billionaire who comes on CNBC or Fox Business promoting this. He said he was very close to getting the votes to make it real.
I'm not sure about government matching or anything. Someone said the gov would do $1000 for newborn children after enactment ao maybe that is part of it but ive seen no one suggest these would be regular payments but one time things to help get you started.
I support the underlyibg basic premise is this would be tax free savings accounts parents can contribute into and their kids can withdraw from when they're older. Like college savings accounts but no college requirement.

That's why I added I got this from Grok. I don't truly know. Isn't the bill not even finalized yet?

What an 18th century Tory thing to say. Do you ever consider the fairness of the taxes?

So, basically a Roth. Why do I have to fund someone else's child?

I mean, it's kinda funny that they go off of ONLY 1 CBO report.
You would think they would look at the other reports, including the other CBO report, to get a clear picture.
Makes you wonder why they don't want to.

I'm not sure how people can expect to reduce the deficit while reducing revenue. It seems like that's how all this started in the first place.
It also seems like a good incentive to balance the budget would be the prospect of cutting taxes - not the other way around.
"I want the Trump Tax Cuts to expire."

The fairness that 50% of people pay no income tax, and now we want to have even more no-payers with no tax on tips, overtime and SS? How is that fair to us that pay taxes and don’t fall into one of those naked vote buying categories?

Why does the vast majority have to pay taxes on all of their earned income, but you feel you are entitled not to have to do that?

Yes, you should want your income tax reduced for this very reason.
My parents are retired and I’m not. This helps them and me.

Great, let’s not do all that naked vote buying and instead just lower all brackets by 1%. That way everyone gets a reduction
But how we funding this government? 2500 child tax credit and these new savings account ain’t funding themselves

The whole picture is not this bill.
This bill cuts 1.6 trillion in entitlements which is what most conservatives want.
Then there is at least 500 billion coming in rescission packages.
Then there is that 2.8 Trillion the CBO talks about in another report.
That's roughly 4.9 Trillion cut.
That's not including tax revenue growth due to the economy growing.

No, basically like a college savings account. Why would you have a problem with this?
To be honest, we have to do something to incentives native born individuals to have children. Elon Musk is correct that birth rates are declining and it is a problem that needs to be addressed. If this helps reverse that trend, the increase in the native born population over time (and, to your point, the tax base) would far outweigh whatever cost you're perceiving.

Lot of extra debt though. That's the issue.
You don't fix a decade plus of marxist democrat destruction of the country for free. Conservatives don't get a chance to actually work on the debt, because they are too busy trying to keep the country from going down the drain. Every time we get a republican in office for a while and things start going well, ignorant Americans elect a marxist democrat for a few terms. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Letting this expire will raise the brackets by 3%.
I just don’t get some of you.
They aren’t lowering taxes enough so frick it, raise them.

The people that I addressed will still pay their full income tax burden on their 40 hours. Putting the 50% who pay NO income taxes into the same basket as those who work 84 hour weeks is incompatible to my way of thinking.
