BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Rep. Julia Letlow announced Tuesday she is running for Sen. Bill Cassidy’s U.S. Senate seat after receiving an endorsement from President Donald Trump, according to reports.
The Advocate and the Baton Rouge Business Report reported that she announced her campaign at the Business Report’s Power Breakfast.
Trump encouraged Letlow to run on Truth Social Jan. 17, writing, “I know Julia well, have seen her tested at the highest and most difficult levels, and she is a TOTAL WINNER! A Proud Mother of two children, Julia is a wonderful person, has ALWAYS delivered for Louisiana, and would continue doing so in the United States Senate.”
After the endorsement, Cassidy said if Letlow chose to run, he would remain confident that he would win.
The campaign for Louisiana State Treasurer John Fleming released the following statement after Letlow entered the race.
“According to polls of the US Senate race for 2026, the people have endorsed John Fleming to be our next Senator. Our campaign has over 200 volunteers, has placed 14,000 yard signs with over 250 personal appearances throughout the 13 months of this campaign. The people of Louisiana have made it clear that they will make a personal decision about whom they will vote for instead of voting for whom they are told. Every candidate in the US Senate race has fully supported Carbon Capture and Sequestration. Fleming stands alone in his 100% opposition to this, another climate change hoax scam.”

2020-21 = votes to impeach Trump
