The defense expert raised the issue of carbon monoxide poisoning (in other words, suggesting that carbon monoxide and not Chauvin's actions may have led to Floyd's death). If the prosecutor is trying to get supposedly new blood gas evidence admitted, you can be sure that it shows that Floyd did not have dangerous levels of carbon monoxide in his blood.

This ruling helps the defense because the State is not going to be allowed to try to rebut the implication that carbon monoxide poisoning may have led to Floyd's death. The jury hears something about carbon monoxide poisoning but does not hear the prosecution dispute this.

Apparently, Tobin said this

quote:

Tobin testified that Floyd’s oxygen saturation levels were 98 percent when he died,
But then claims Floyd died of asphyxiation. Asphyxiation is death due to lack of oxygen. Who was defending this nut job the other day?

Nothing about this trial is anywhere even close to following Due Process. This is a damned travesty.

Case should have been dismissed when the city paid a settlement to Floyd’s family......before the trial began

This is the play for their foot soldiers. They'll lose but claim it was only because the truth was stifled. In fact, it's just a technical observation made by the defense itself and they knew this would not be allowed as it was not entered in a timely manner.

But again, I don't care if they burn Minneapolis, Portland and Seattle, so who gives a shite?

They want to rule it out. The prosecution conveniently found a CO test after the defense medical examiner was on an airplane back to Maryland.

The burning and looting is going to happen regardless of what happens.
That's certainly true. But I was replying to the comment that it only matters what the jury thinks. If the jury acquits, the jurors themselves will be targeted directly. They must realize this.

There's a difference between knowing there will be burning and looting somewhere and knowing that the burning and looting will be going on at your house.

He just invoked the 5th. Count on him being convicted of the 3rd degree manslaughter because they won't succeed in getting the 2nd. It's difficult to achieve in Case

He was charged with 2nd and 3rd degree murder, and 2nd degree manslaughter.

Why would the prosecution want to bring that up?

Because their case is weak!

I would think environmental factors such as ambient CO would help the defense?

Why would the prosecution want to bring that up?

The medical expert the defense brought in said it could have been a contributing factor in his death.

Conveniently, this test is available the next morning allegedly refuting that contributing factor when the prosecution is bringing in a rebuttal witness.

The judge rightfully made it inadmissible because its so late in the trial.

I'm glad Floyd is dead. He was a waste of oxygen and carbon monoxide.

Acting like he was something else is a lie.

Yeah , this is interesting and could explain why he couldn’t breathe. If he had a high concentration of Carboxyhemoglobin, he could have high saturation’s and not be able to breathe. CO is a respiratory stimulant, but saturates the binding sites on the hemoglobin. With his heart, it could take very little to kill him. Could have got it from a vehicles exhaust, or smoking , a bong, etc....while everyone else is fine...It really could explain a lot, does anyone know the levels?

Truth.

I’d hate to be on that jury.

If I had been called in for jury duty for this, this would have been my statement:

Prosecutor: “Mr. bhtigerfan, are you familiar with the George Floyd case?”

bhtigerfan: “The drug head that passed a counterfeit bill, resisted arrest, then died of a fentanyl overdose? That George Floyd?”

Prosecutor: “You’re dismissed.”

Well... drugs and CO in his system kinda takes murder off of the table... to anyone with a reasonable mind...

Being restrained on the ground next to a running car that is belching CO can't be good protocol if I had to imagine

In the interest of his safety shouldn't the vehicle have been turned off?
