Did you read the article? They don't claim that biased journalism began with the Hunter laptop story. They're saying that some journalists are beginning to admit their role in the coverup in order to help Biden

I got to the part of the first line that you quoted, which was down a bit and my red flag meter went off with the language used. Imo it’s designed to frame (as in timeframe) their duplicitousness.
