He could've had Lara Trump go in and clean house when she took over the GOP for a brief time.
She didnt. Trump backed off and we haven't seen any housekeeping I'm aware of outside of eliminating many people like Massie and MTG who werent loyal to him personally, but who were extremely conservative with regard to their voting record and would've 100% backed him cleaning house with the GOP itself.
I don't know what changed.
I know Trump could eliminate the GOPe leadership and hasn't.
I know the cost has been the entirety of his second term to date.

I agree 100 %. There's no good way out for him. He's a damn leader and should lead, if not get outta the way and let someone else do it.

After this mid-term...
I would really like to see Trump and Musk formulate a new political party for the 2028 election cycle. 300 million from each along with contributions would secure a legitimate foundation.

It will be viewed as “Trump tried, but these Senators who voted against it are traitors who need to be voted out.” Trump would then go on the attack via the bully pulpit and the SAVE act would be a major talking point in senate races nationwide. Seeing as it’s an 80/20 issue with voters, this is a Trump win.

Thune is intentionally subverting this legislation.
I have been calling up several senators and telling them that my campaign contributions are tied to the Save America Act.
No act = no money.
The NRSC is not getting a dime of my money.
