John Oliver trashes China and Nike over their treatment of Uighurs

It's about fricking time someone on the Left mainstream media calls out China and these companies for the treatment of the Uighurs. Reminds me of some of his old pieces when he was actually going after smaller issues that have huge fricked up ramifications rather than just "Orange Man Bad".
And he didn't even get into the hair and organ harvesting (which is the direction I thought he was going in with the eyelash beginning). Good for John Oliver here and he's one of the few that can say the words Black Lives Matter and not be a complete hypocrite dodging the retort on what the Chinese are doing to ethnic minorities over there.

To be fair, Oliver has talked mad shite about China in the past. I wasn't aware of Xi Jinping getting pissed off about Winnie the Pooh until Oliver brought it up, and Xi getting trolled worldwide for that greatly escalated because him. Oliver would probably be in Xi's Top 5 people in this country for him to personally garrote.

I prefer Russia's method of dealing with Muslims than those of China. When you're on the 'wanted for terrorist' list they ask your mom where you are. If she refuses then they put your mom in prison and let you know she will be released when you turn yourself in.

All of these companies exploiting the Chinese, look at Apple. Chinese government doesn’t care about their own people, in fact they invite it where they can steal and make the same stuff.

About time lol? This has been an ongoing story for years (decades?), just because you didn’t see it doesn’t mean the evil media kept it hush hush..

Dude, I've been seeing this and saying it for years. But no the media has largely been quite about it and it largely has to do with sponsors. You think Nike is going to run ads on CNN right after they do a piece on how Nike is responsible for shite fricking Werner Von Braun did with his factories in Germany? No, they bribe these media outlets to turn a blind eye to it.

Edit: hell heres an evil PBS Frontline documentary from back in 2005.
I doubt it would matter if they carpeted the tv / papers in it 24/7, the bias in your minds about the evil media is too strong so you’d still hold the same opinions

Yeah, they'll write an article on it every 5 months, but they're just covering their bases so when people like me and (I guess) John Oliver come knocking they've got some bullshite excuse. Sorry, this should have been covered at least as much as Russiagate, not just some bullshite fluff piece of an article. You don't hear their big reporters that bring in the ratings covering it (with the possible exception of the BBC).

I give credit where I think credit is due. I don't think I've defended Oliver since 2016. Maher I think is a free speech absolutist and one of the last sane liberals. I don't think Oliver is one of these. I have much more respect for Maher than I do for John Oliver.

How can you be this stupid? There's writing an article about something, and there's nationalizing a story. There's a big difference and a large grey area between the two, and it just depends on how hard the media wants to prioritize a story. You have to know this unless you're mentally deficient in some manner.
