I love how they say about politicians, " he served xxx years." Served my arse. They don't serve, they get served!

I'm not a fan of his political record, but I don't see how people can say this. He served as a naval aviator and alongside his fellow American servicemen in combat against the enemy. The cause in Vietnam is obviously highly debated, but that wasn't for someone in his position to determine.
This emotions-based, apoplectic demonization of his character comes straight from the DNC playbook. Maybe it's fine to accept that his life and career are nuanced and not black/white. But I just don't see the need to succumb to that type of bullshite.

There's a middle ground, Trump was wrong to shite on his service but to act as if a career politician deserves to be exalted is equally as annoying. He did more harm than good in his career as a politician.

We can't have people like this running our country -- and yet, THEY ARE.

Lol, the irony.
What if he’s on his third after cheating on his first two? Patron saint?

Maybe he had a lemonade stand as a kid but once out of the military he was in Congress for 38 years. He is the textbook definition of a career politician, and that is how he should be remembered.
He married rich too........

He had some years of rehab when he first returned from the war.

No. She stayed by his side - crippled herself - while he rehabbed.
Got elected and quickly let the power go to his head. THEN he bounced for a pretty, young, rich teacher.
Still, mad respect for his service tho.

Trump fan speaking on infidelity will never not be funny.
The infidelity is not the problem. Ronald Reagan was unfaithful to his first wife, Churchill was a serial womanizer, Roosevelt cheated on Eleanor all the time, Kennedy was a Kennedy.
What McCain did was as despicable as what Newt Gingrich did, just not as bad as Ted Kennedy.
Interestingly enough, while President Trump's first marriage might not have ended well, his second one ended because she cheated on him, not the other way around.

I'm not defending McCain in any way but I am curious...in 2008 did you vote for McCain, who was the same then as you describe him now, or did you vote for Obama, who had at least worked in the private sector at some point in his life?
In other words, how deep does this belief go?

Probably not deep. Presidential elections are binary. O was the zero (0) and McCain the one (1). McCain was a terrible candidate and his campaign was a mess, but there is no way I was voting for Obama. Quite often, it’s that simple.
McCain was everything wrong then as he was over the last decade. This private vs public deal, who cares. The greater point that should have been driven home is that he was an establishment guy more than most and that the maverick was no maverick. He was a system guy.
