Wow! I have been a member of Tigerdroppings for quite some time because I love LSU and no matter where in the world I may have been, this forum allowed me to "come home."
Truthfully, I rarely visit this particular board. With today's news, I am saddened. Partly because I've lost several family members to cancer and the empathy was heavy tonight. And partly because there was something about his character that I revered.
Full disclosure: I am a liberal socially and economically, yet McCain embodied a conservatism that made our country stronger and for that I respected him and others like him. I could go on here but I won't.
So I came here today to read your thoughts hoping to share in your empathy and your humanity. I wish I hadn't. Rarely have I been this ashamed and embarrassed to be from Louisiana. I have to believe that the people that post here are not emblematic of the state my mom moved us to many years ago (immigrated from Northern Ireland). Just disgusting...

I think it's important to know who you're dealing with. We have some celebrity obsessed dudes who are really equivalent to girls who worship pop stars. It colors their entire lives.

Loomed large in politics and did it his own way. I realize some conservatives disliked him because he wasn’t conservative enough but he never said he was. Honestly I think the country would be better off if more politicians were completely in the hands of the party’s. Downvote away but I wish him and his family well.

You knew it was coming when that story broke yesterday about stopping treatment. That always means death is soon when the family releases a story like that. Same thing happened with Aretha Franklin.
