Dude has to be in complete shock. He had that show for 24 years

24 years? I didn't realize it had been that long.

I know about contracts, but the thing is, they've had a million opportunities to fire him over controversial remarks, but never did anything. Why now, if that's all this is about?

The local advertisers in Middle America—businesses we patronize, businesses we own, in thousands of towns and villages all across the fruited plain—told the local stations that they either take Kimmel off the air, or they could find new advertisers.

This is a huge achievement for MAGA and a win for America to force this hateful show off the public airways for good.

He was arrogant enough to try to double down on his lies. Unfortunately, someone else will hire him and give him another platform.

This is definitely how I took it, as well. That's why I questioned the theory that the network was looking for an excuse to fire him. Seems like they could have found that excuse long ago, if that's what they wanted. I do think this was indeed more about pressure placed on them, and they finally did something about it.

He only had a year left on his contract anyway. He was planning on leaving then. Might even be less than a year. Can't remember the dates.
