What the frick is that?
Seriously. Every time I see that dude on TV he’s yelling at me about something he cannot articulate in any conceivable way. Like I think he’s actually fricking retarded. I used to think it was funny when he’d try to explain something, but at this point it pisses me off people like that get to serve a billion years in DC.

I mean what do you expect from a Democrat. They are all so much smarter than us!

I guess the underlying problem is the constituency that allows that type of shite. I cannot wrap my head around a person listening to people like him talk and thinking yeah that makes sense, cool bro, here’s a 2828th term. It’s just whatever at this point trying to come to grips with the fact that people are either stupid or just don’t care, but it’s probably a lot of both.

They carved out the wealthiest region and made his district encompass the poorest and majority black populated areas.

He is a fricking racist like the Obama's, Jesse, Al.
SC wake up and get him out.

46 counties in SC and his one district has over 1/3 of them. It's a black supermajority to guarantee a black Democrat always holds the seat.

It’s an incredibly stupid interpretation of the VRA to insist that X percentage of a minority in the state guarantees Y set-aside seats for that minority.
Besides putting idiots like Clyburn in power, it polarizes the Dem party as a whole by guaranteeing a large obnoxious portion of their party pretty much can’t lose their seats and will drag things to the left and/or frick it up for any centrists.
Not that the Pelosis or AOCs of the party care, but an old school Tip O’Neill type may have been corrupt as hell but willing to cut a deal. Ideology didn’t trump money for their districts which meant re-election for those Dems. Of course, Pelosi purposely killed off a lot of those Dems’ careers in an attempt to shift the party left.

Yep and they still can’t figure out he hasn’t helped their plight.

Clyburn has also decimated the Democratic Party's effectiveness in congressional races in SC. If the counties in the northern part of his district were included in Tom Rice's district, it would be competitive. Same thing with the counties in the southern part of his district and Joe Wilson's seat.

Pretty much. Same thing has happened in LA to a degree as LA 1 (Jefferson Parish) is hard red and the Dems have lost the rest of the state for the better part of the last 25 years.
Only blue congressmen I can remember since 1994, excepting New Orleans, were a special election of Cazayoux for BR because his opponent was that damn bad, a term or so of some upstate Dems who later flipped parties, and Charlie Melancon who was explicitly sacrificed by Pelosi. IOW, the lack of black voters and extremity of the national party killed the LA state party for most offices.

Gerrymandering should be outlawed and a simple geographical program should be used to get the proportional amount of people in each district as close to their polling locations as possible. Race, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, monetary wealth should NOT be used.

Just know. Clyburn has been known to have his staff cruise internet sites much smaller than this one and start calling people out as racists in the media.

Go anywhere in his district . . . you would think he walks on water.

You’ve got it backwards. We stuck all the black people in one district so they’re not impacting multiple districts. We concede one district to guarantee we control all of the other ones. Louisiana is a great example of this. Check out district 2.

It’s a double edged sword for both sides.
Dems get a guaranteed black district at the expense of losing suburban districts otherwise obtainable for them.
Republicans are pretty much guaranteed a loss outside extreme circumstances (Dollar Bill Jefferson) but generally control all other districts in a state as a result.
