... I kind of like it right now ...

All of the tourists have been scared away

The grocery store shelves are stocked

I can now buy shrimp as big as your fist again

Not elbow to elbow with people

Can get a seat in the restaurant rather fast

All you have to do is watch out for carjacking and bullets

There was someone shot maybe 10 blocks away the other day

But life goes on

City is flush with tourists with hundreds staying at Central City and Treme walking the Hoods like it is no big deal.
As long as tourists hang in the Quarter casually strolling along drunk when gun shots are flying, the city moves on.

... it's true ...

The only reason more people have been shot recently, is the direct result of ... "the expansion of FAT " ...
In the timeline since the lock down from covid, the "expansion of FAT" has exploded

To where

A person shooting a gun can actually hit someone. Even if that person is holding the gun sideways ...

Result === more people shot

Simple as that

New Orleans has a large black population. Currently, top leaders are black.

Draw your own conclusions , but Carville, a liberal politician, says it isn't working.

Keep in mind, as bad as it is, this is after the federal government pumped in billions and billions of aide of the last 20 years.

... and not to mention the Saints football team and the Pelicans ...

giving all that money to improve the cultural society ...

For What ???

For the "Expansion of Fat"

There's something oddly and simultaneously satisfying and infuriating about watching these leftists come to terms with what they've been pushing for their whole lives while not figuring out that they are to blame. They're like someone who fights like hell to keep the public food pantry unlocked because a baby might need some food, when everyone else is saying "no, someone will steal all the food". Then they sneak back every night and unlock the pantry after everyone has left, then within a week they open up and all the food's been stolen.

I travel all over the SE United States for work. People always ask me for travel recommendations for New Orleans since they know I’m from there. I used to provide restaurant and music venue recs, along with things to do and places to avoid

Now I explain to people how unsafe the city is and how the formerly safe areas are now overrun with crime. If they still choose to go, I’ll still provide recs but I make sure to also provide a realistic assessment of the out of control crime

I was in Chicago this past weekend and downtown Chicago is cleaner than downtown New Orleans by a mile.

Democrats don’t truly believe in the bullshite they spout. They’ve simply figured out that there are so many idiots that will listen to anything they say (wear a mask, abortion good, cops bad) that’s it’s the easiest way for them to get and maintain power, which in turn gets and keeps them rich enough to not give a frick about what people that have to get up and go to work every day have to deal with

frick them all.

Barring the occasional LSU road game and batchelor trip, there’s no desire to ever visit New Orleans. It’s a gross city.

You still haven't accepted the fact that they KNOW what they are doing. They actively destroy everything they touch, on purpose, with no accountability.

People like Carville are famous for this: destroy something beautiful, blame someone else, then come up with a "solution" to fix it. Of course, that solution involves the people they actively HATE paying for it, but who cares when you can funnel that money to your friends?

It's a shame too. I used to love going to NOLA and listen to some music, walk the quarter, etc. Now you couldn't pay me to go. Just sad.

Last time (and only time) I went to Mardi Gras was in the Mid-2000s. A couple locals we met there while eating in the Quarter offered to let us hang with them for the parades and stuff, so we didn't wander into the wrong areas unknowingly. Black guy named Jason, and his wife Erin.

It was a blast. From what I've heard, the whole vibe feels different now. My buddy that was with me in the mid-2000s on that trip went back in 2019 and said he was never comfortable and said there were obvious young gang bangers everywhere stalking unsuspecting visitors.

Jason and Erin, if y'all read this board, I fricking love and miss you guys!

So did taking down the statues do nothing?

I thought for sure it would turn that city around.

Nola is way worse. In Detroit, the crime doesn’t leave Detroit. Nola has crime in Lakeview now, Metairie, old Metairie. Detroit doesn’t have crime in Royal Oak, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills.

Drag a hundred dollar bill down Poydras and you never know what you'll come up with.
