I never realized that every infantryman who was in the Army during time of war was awarded the CIB just for being in that particular MOS. Doesn't matter if they were deployed to a combat zone or not. Geez! The things you've taught me here.
I need to let some of my buddies know they need to write in for a review and revision of their DD214s to have the CIB added to their list of decorations/awards received.

quote:No it does not make him a combat veteran, it makes him a veteran and I would have to look at his service record to see if he even qualifies to carry that title. This is because he was in the National Guard and not an active duty military member.
So he WAS in the military while there was a combat initiative. This quite obviously make him a combat veteran, but I guess you all are too illiterate to recognize this fact.
According to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), a combat veteran is a military member who has served in a combat theater, received combat service medals, or received hostile fire or imminent danger pay.
According to federal law, a veteran is someone who served in the active military, naval, or air service of the United States and was released or discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. This includes discharges marked General and Under Honorable Conditions.
To be considered a veteran, a person must also meet the following criteria:
Served at least 90 days of active service
Served at least one day of wartime service

If this is all true about another faux “combat vet” politico then frick him and Carville, too.
I have two Purple Hearts and a couple of minor awards for valor in actual combat from Vietnam — plus closeup witnessing of my Marine buddies’ deaths — so I will never be able to forgive guys like Walz and Blumenthal (and to an extent John Kerry) for pissing on our honor.
Compared to these guys I should claim the Croix de Guerre (even though I’ve never been France but am a Cajun). Stolen valor seems to be all the rage.

I met Carville at a restaurant in NOLA.
Not a bad dude if you can turn the politics down.

I rate this claim of combat veteran true and all you simpleton Republicans will be laughing in November when these two moderates take the White House.
LMAO, no. So many politicians claim to be combat vets when they just sat on a base. This claim is even worse…

Well this point should make good fodder for the VP debate. Vance served one contract (4ish years) and went to a combat zone as a public affairs guy versus this guy who did serve for 20+ years, but never saw a combat zone.

I dont know a whole lot about this Walz guy, but i did read that this DUI in the mid 1990s got him to straighten up, fly right and he’s been sober for 30 yrs .. i know that in my own case, it’s a total miracle that i never got a DUI , god knows i should have gotten at least a couple.. but those memories have kept me from ever having as much as a sip of beer and getting behind the wheel for at least 15 yrs… so IMO if the Republicans make this an issue, they will be bringing up a strength of his, not a weakness .

Perfect candidate for Dim VP when you consider the Dim/Groomer ideology is built on a foundation of deception and lies.
The picture you posted states “he then lied to police about being deaf”.
I have read articles from three different sources that all attribute the “deaf” excuse by a story told by a staffer of his in 2006.
Can you please provide a link to an article that shows that he claimed in 1995 when it happened it was dead?
FWIW - I did see in one article that his lawyer did claim in 1995 he thought someone was chasing him as an excuse for speeding.
