Iranians would probably say we’ve been fighting for 70 years. I think they are still weirdly upset we overthrew their democratic government and installed a dictator to protect oil company shareholder value.

Really? Really? Yes Iran is Shia Muslims and AQ is Sunni Muslims. The difference between Sunni and Shia Muslims is mainly Theological and technical. It’s an argument amongst Muslims though. They both walk in lock step as how they look at the rest of the world. They see nonbelievers as infidels and infidels must convert or die. There is absolutely no difference between how the 2 groups of radical Islamist would deal with a nonbeliever. It would be off with our heads.

The NATO Serbian campaign in 1999 was a victory and did not require boots on the ground.

Where would we base an Army to push into Iran?

There are many reasons that we haven’t tried this before but it might work.
