You know what is really fricky about all this?
Nobody ever predicted a recession with so much accuracy and certainty before.
These charts are the equivalent of a sports broadcaster saying "Auburn has never won a night game at home on a full moon in October" so therefore they're gonna lose?
But it's true, do the research yourself! Facts!

quote:No, there's not.
and there have been many economic indicators pointing to a possible recession in the future
The 5 indicators of a recession are real GDP growth, retail spending, manufacturing, employment/unemployment, and wages/income. And each of these things must be down/negative for at least two straight quarters for us to meet the definition of being in a "recession".
And right now, not only are none of those even remotely close to going negative, but they are all doing spectacularly.
-Real GDP growth was +3.0% for 2018, and is +2.6% so far for 2019, with projections to finish somewhere between 2.7%-3.1% this year.
-Retail spending YOY was up 3.4% last year and is trending higher so far this year. June was up 0.3% and July 0.7%. Trending upwards.
-Manufacturing is up big and predicted to finish up at least 3.9% for 2019. And there are so many manufacturing jobs available that 89% of manufacturing producers have open jobs they can't find skilled enough people to fill. The PMI (Purchasing Managers Index), which measures the activity of manufacturing purchasing managers, is 50.4, and anything above 50.0 means "expansion". Again, trending upwards.
-Wages are up 4.0% over the last 12 months, which is +1.8% over inflation for the last 12 months. Inflation is trending DOWN while wages are trending UP.
-Labor Force Participate Rate has averaged 62.9% over the last 12 months and eclipsed 63.x% 5x while reaching 63.2% twice. It is currently at 63.0%, up from 62.8% the previous two months. It averaged 62.5% in 2018. And unemployment has stayed at 3.7% even with Labor Participation hitting these new highs, which means a de facto reduction in unemployment claims. So yet again, labor participation trending UP and unemployment claims trending DOWN.
I mean we are no where freaking close to anything even trending towards a recession.
This inverted yield curve nonsense, which by the way is already turning around, had/has NOTHING to do with our economy. It was built mostly on false narratives manipulating layperson sentiment, big financiers allowing it so they could exploit the selloffs, and foreign countries around the world having economic issues and their investors flooding our bond markets for security from their economic woes (that we aren't having).
I'm in the financial business too, like you, and I can tell you that you don't know WTF you're talking about.

NPR, BBC, CNN all declared neutral? That chart is a complete load of crap.

I don’t think any companies are. I’d rather follow individuals.
I think you she read up on what the chief editor of NYT said at a townhall recently. It’s very disturbing and it definitely shines a light on the paper not just being partisan but disingenuous.
NPR has leaned left for a while now.
I think Sarah Carter, John Solomon, and Catherine herridge are fantastic reporters.
Everything is for clicks regardless of blue/red, donkey/elephant, Dem/GOP. It’s all about driving hysteria and putting someone against someone/something. Regardless of trump, the biggest fraud and light shone has been on the entire mainstream media and reporting. It’s utterly pathetic. And every single institution has been infiltrated at the highest ranks with partisans. It goes both way. The left just has a bigger foothold.
If you deny any of that then I just immediately won’t care about your views on any other issue.

There is a concerted effort by the Democratic Party and the media to try and convince the American people that our economy is faltering, even though there’s no meaningful data to suggest that. Unemployment is continuing to go down and wages are continuing to rise. This is not only a bold faced lie that the economy is weakening, but it also will cause the economy to go into recession if enough people believe it and start saving their money. It’s dangerous and quite honestly insidious.
It's at a comical stage. I heard a top of the hour radio spot saying that 1/3 of economist say that we might face a recession in 2021.
So that means 2/3's of economist think we won't have a recession.
And the supposed recession is predicted for 2 years from now. Its beyond ridiculous.

There is so much bull shite in this it should have a barbed wire fence put around it. The New York Times announced a new project where they are doing a series of articles with the premise of the country actually being founded in 1619 and they are put in a minimal bias portion of fact reporting. Daily Beast, Vox, MSNBC are all considered "fair interpretations of the news" yet relative conservative equivalents of those (Daily Wire, Daily Caller, Fox News) are considered to be "nonsense damaging to public discourse." Even charts showing media bias are biased to the left.

They did the same thing when elder Bush was running against Clinton. They ran stories about the bad economy every day. Miraculously, after Clinton came into office no more negative stories. The libs could teach Goebbels a thing or two about propaganda.

Why is reporting this viewed as some conspiracy?
Because only one third of economists are predicting a recession before the 2020 election and yet every headline in the media is "One out of Three Economists Predict Recession in 2020." No one is running a headline saying "Two out of Three Economists Do Not Predict Recession in 2020."

A real scumbag move by the lying media. Subverting America's best interests and harming the majority of households in the country all to beat Trump. If this is all true, then those pupeteering something so heinous should be tried for treason, or whatever charges would be appropriate for that matter.

Financial bros are not biased, the only color they see is green.
They are fricking morons who basically have one skill: repeat whatever they are told.
This doesn't necessarily contradict seeing green. They are told to push recession because the people writing their checks are ready to cash in on dumb fricks panicking.

I worked with a black guy, who, in spite of his belief in Jesus Obama (he met him twice), he and I became friends. It's been five years since we've seen each other, though, and he would send me orange man bad crap on Messenger from time to time. I would either not respond, or send him some anti-lib meme, or try to engage him with facts. Nonetheless, he continued doing it until last night. His crap was getting more and more shrill as Dems continue to lose on all the investigation and issues. I had just had it with his crap and so, I sent this message to him last night, word for word, after he sent some anti-Trump crap to me. Not even changing his name. He has yet to reply:
quote:
Hey Ike, I get it. You have no vision outside the fact that Trump is not a Democrat. I accept that you're old, set in your ways and too scared to leave the plantation lest other blacks enslaved to the plantation of the Democrat party might call you an Uncle Tom.
So if we're to remain friends, which I hope we do, you are going to have to cease sending me this kind of bullshite garbage and I'll do the same. If you want to legitimately discuss facts as it relates to the welfare, security and economy of this country, then I'm your huckleberry all day long, but you better come prepared to accept facts and not give me this shite about how Trump is bad because he had bankruptcies, was a womanizer, or isn't filtered on Twitter. Don't come with this small-minded, petty orange-man bad crap. You're much more intelligent than that and you know what it feels like to me when you're trying to goad me in front of your friends when you send that stuff (he always copies six or more of his black friends)? It feels like you telling them "Hey, watch me get this white guy worked up". That's how it comes across to me. So I would appreciate it, for the sake of our friendship, if that has any value to you, that you stop it. And I will stop responding with the facts about our great economy, how black and Hispanic unemployment is at an all-time low, how Trump has provided more minority business development funding than any president, ever. I will stop defending a great stock market, the huge growth in manufacturing jobs, investment dollars returning to the U.S. no new wars, pulling troops back home and the huge worldwide push by Trump to secure LGBTQ rights in other countries, as well.
But I have to tell you, your support for abortion, black hucksters stirring racial divide, free and unbounded immigration, and the use of the American intelligence service to make an attempted coup of a legitimately elected president has me wondering how we ever became friends to begin with. You are so far from "woke" for a man of intelligence that it's completely baffling to me that you refuse to acknowledge all the great things being done by the Trump administration. I always expect men of intelligence and education to be able to overcome emotions, innuendo and fraudulent politicians. I obviously assumed too much with too much faith in truth and honesty. My personal failing for seeking the good in everyone.
Ps: How's Trevor (his son) doing in Afghanistan? I hope he gets to come home soon.
