Donny's easily malleable. You can wring your hands and throw them up in the air, thinking that's a fatal flaw and we are simply doomed to the worst outcome possible.
Or you can realize this is a trait that actually allowed a lot of decent things to be pushed through during his tenure, and try to ensure that he gets the right people in his ear pushing him in the right direction.
I'm gonna choose the latter, me. I realize that's the only real alternative at this point - it's been so for a good while actually.

such as:
Trying to get Amnesty rammed through
The Cares Act
Social Justice Act
Multiple Omnibus spending deals without a single veto (W Vetoed NINE of them).
Fauci running the country for 9 months

You want more? Because Loomer has been on a 24 hour bender coming after Ron even harder.
With Trump's full blessing.
Unity!

JFC.
Sure, because that's what we ought to look for in a leader...

None of which happens without the majority of HIS party's blessing in DC. Same with Tax Cuts and the Supreme Court picks. Like I said, get the right people in our party pushing the things we want. It ain't gonna happen with just the guy in the White House, regardless of who that would be.

It's our choice at this point, brother. It's been so for awhile now, whether you like it or not. There's no perfect vessel.

Having an effective, respected, good leader that focuses on getting things done and collaborating with allies has a trickle down effect.
So does having a complete pushover that they know will capitulate on every major issue.

Sure. Trump and everyone who has ever held (and likely will ever hold) the office he held was somewhere in between both of those.

We already have one President who needs a keeper. Why put in another one?

Dude.
Trump is the 2nd one. He capitulated to the Dems on every major issue except tax cuts.
There are numerous tweets from him that says "at the request of the Democrats..." or him admitting that he didn't do something because "the democrats would be mad" (his words).
He was a paper tiger. He talked big (which is all people on here care about), but when the rubber met the road he was repeatedly a complete wimp.

And that's not conjecture; he admitted it multiple times. If he might take heat for a tough decision he's going for the escape hatch far more often than not.
Populists do populist things.

That was very obviously a threat to force a bipartisan compromise. Your candidate of preference doesn’t have that level of intelligence
Posted on 1/22/24 at 11:06 am to Upperdecker
An empty threat, because he never did a thing.
There are many such posts just like that "at the request of Democrats", he actually said out loud he didn't do certain things because "the Democrats would be mad".
Its ok to admit you prefer talk to action.
