Do you feel the same about your US citizenship?

Like I said, I spent 15 years in the United States Navy. I've sworn allegiance to this country many, many times. As an American citizen, I've lived all but the first five years of my life in the United States.

There would be pushback to this. Many Americans hold dual citizenship, including Olympic athletes like Mondo Duplantis.

Yeah. Let's throw all logic out of the window because if a pole vaulter lol

Choose your loyalty.

"Burn the ships and leave no option of going back!"

Demonstrate total commitment.

So you are so insistent on keeping citizenship to a country you have zero loyalty to, whos citizenship means nothing to you other than "its mine".

That you would block something that would seriously clean up the number of anchor babies in America?
That would reduce the amount of foreign loyalty of our citizens?
That would keep many H1Bs off our social security and Medicaid entitlements.

It just seems like a petty reason to keep them as you keep saying those countries mean nothing to you.

It is mine by birthright. It's not yours to take. My family has deep roots in New York and Canada that predate the existence of both countries.

I made no comments on the bill, I just said I had dual citizenship. End birthright citizenship as it is used for anchor baby purposes. Grandfather in those who already possess dual citizenship.

Where did I say anything about "those countries?" Are you slow?

Again this seems like you want it to stay because you dont want to give up a benefit willingly.

That seems to be your only reason.

You are fine with others losing it.

No choice is required, I have citizenship in two countries. And, yeah, I do like Canada. It's a cool country and poutine is delicious. You may not like that I have dual citizenship for whatever bizarre reason, but your opinion doesn't really mean frickall, does it?

Yet.

The investigator looking into the renewal of my Navy security clearance brought up the idea of renouncing Canadian citizenship to me during an interview. I was like, "Is that a requirement?" He said "no, but if it was, would you?" I said, "I guess so, never really thought about it." We moved on to the next question. My clearance was renewed, I guess I wasn't deemed to be some dangerous Canadian spy.

Somalia recognizes Ilhan Omar as a Somali citizen.

She needs to renounce any claim to any Somali citizenship Especially in her position as a congressman.

In your case I agree that you are much less risky. But in order to be An equitable rule we cannot have exceptions.

Do you even know what Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) is? What is your exact problem with OCI? OCI holders can't get Indian passport. They can't vote in India. It is no different than having a permanent travel visa. So, what is your exact concern?
