It’s 2012. A bold candidate bursts onto the scene, campaigning on term limits

....3 terms for House members, 2 terms for Senators.
He even signs a pledge. Very serious stuff. Revolutionary, really.
But then… the timing just never seemed right.
Every election cycle, he regretfully explains that he simply has to run again because he’s “fighting for the people.” Sure, he promised to leave after six years, but democracy apparently couldn’t survive without him.
Fast forward to 2021...after winning his fifth term, he heroically co-sponsors a term-limits bill. Not sponsors. Co-sponsors. Because actually leading on the thing you built your brand around would be a little extreme.
Naturally, the bill dies quietly in committee and is never heard from again. Much like his original pledge.
Undeterred, our selfless public servant runs for two more terms, because the people still needed him. Specifically, they needed him in 2023 so he could vote with Biden to suspend the debt ceiling.
This hero is finally moving on after 1 special election, 7 House victories, and 14 years in Congress, more than double the limit he once demanded for everyone else. He didn't want to stay in the fight this long, but he had to. For you...and Biden's debt ceiling!
The one bright side in all of this is that, after graciously surrendering his “term limits for thee, not for me” congressional career, our hero hinted at a 2028 presidential run during his speech last night.
Fingers crossed.
The people still need him.
And apparently so does the debt ceiling.

I wonder if Boebert senses his vulnerability and has a particular kink about incumbents who lose elections. Is she by his side yet?

I, like many here, am waiting for Trump to tell me if term limits are what I want
I am an NPC....

I don't think you will find a single MAGA supporter who doesn't want term limits.
Well, to be fair, we would like Trump to get one more term.

Are you going to vote for Dems in the midterms out of spite like all the Massholes on X were saying they would do last night?

Why did your hero not keep his promise to fight for term limits
He was fat for a while so he must have been loving DC

False equivalence. I expect that from NPCs and you are a great one. It is the canned response. As if I actually cared about a Congressman from a state other than my own.

Susan Collins made this same pledge in 1862
