Any politician or person concerned about affordability of the basics should've spoken up a long time ago when we were overborrowing, overspending, monetizing debt, shutting down the economy for an extended period, and monetizing more debt. That's the recipe for unaffordability.

Simple solution. Don’t try to live in New York if you can’t afford it.

I mean, you’re not wrong, but that’s only part of the equation. The other part is the promise of free stuff.

If you’re taking a place like NYC, which has been a very expensive place to live historically, and magically make things more affordable or free, someone is still paying for it all. It’s not created out of thin air.

So, I expect to see a huge influx of people move to NYC for free stuff. But, how is he going to provide his benevolence?

By raising taxes, most likely. Between the influx of people wanting a free lifestyle, and increased taxes, anyone who can is going to leave town. Now, who will be left to pay for everything?

I read that he is going to tax business transactions. I bet you’ll see that go down, too.

He wants government run grocery stores. How does he do that? Does he buy out all the mom and pop stores along with the big chains? Does he buy the big chains and freeze out the small businesses? Does he simply seize them?

Same with housing. Does he come in and set the rent? Does he seize those too?

At the end of it, the voters did elect him partially on the promise of affordability. His plan to do this involves taxing the ever loving shite out of his citizens and everyone who does business with NYC.

Let’s check back in a year or two and see how he’s doing…

And santa claus socialist is going to deliver? Remove all the taxes and red tape and prices can lower. You do realize NYC is a victim of it's own design?

Affordability doesn’t account for inflation doofus. Promising people things they will not be able to afford IS A LIE!

How did government controlled rent get expensive? It is quite the conundrum.

Completely agree. And who has run our country over the last 20 years? Trump has been on the job for less than a year so rest assured the so-called "affordability" issue is not bc of any of his policies. It quite simple, governments COST money to run and every employee hired by a government does just that. Private industry PAYS for government and in turn every new one of those does just that. It blows my mind how ignorant most people are regarding this one simple fact.

So what happens when “democratic socialism” runs off the wealthy and now the middle class and poor have to “pay their fair share”?
