The coalition of 8 parties that banded together to oust Netanyahu has broken up. They couldn’t agree on anything from rights of settlers to subway construction.

PM Bennet’s term was very, very short.

Election scheduled Nov 1.

Netanyahu already leads in polls.

People who believe that the answer to our political gridlock is a multi-party coalition or parliamentary system needs to look no farther than Israel to see how terrible they can be. This is their fifth election in three years.

With leftists gaining so much power over the last decade I think political gridlock is something to be encouraged.

BayouBlitz, let me peer down your rabbit hole in a spinoff from your present page one thread...

What do you think about us sending $55B to Ukraine? Do you support that?

I mean...govt gridlock is a great thing most of the time. I'm sure we would all love a bit more govt gridlock here.

The year is 2050, and Netnayahu's Corpse leads the polls. Maybe they should try things the Ancient Israel way----that was an ancap society. No kings, no taxes, no wars----sweet deal.

So, our representatives voted in favor of the aid. People we elected. If citizens aren't good with it, we need to vote them out. That's the process.

My personal opinion is that I like seeing Russia losing military strength and respect among countries who previously feared Putin. frick him. frick dictators.

And he's driving countries into NATO which is karma.

For a country with such unstable governments, Israel is remarkably stable itself.

Of course when your whole coalition is based on "we hate somebody" and has nothing else holding it together, we shouldn't be surprised that it didn't last that long.

Likud will likely get the most votes again. But until Netanyahu and Lieberman settle their internal feud, it will be hard to forge a right-wing coalition. Likud will get Shas and the United Torah Judaism alliance to support them (they usually do) and maybe the Religious Zionist party but that won't get 61 votes (the four parties only got 52 votes the last election).
