Yes, I plan to assimilate while staying with heritage and my religion(Hinduism). My kids were born here and they have the freedom to do whatever they like. Regarding living here permanently, my thought is I would have a permanent residence here as long as I am employed but be more of a wanderlust after retirement, spending most of my time in India among my family. I would definitely want my ashes dispersed in the Ganges as well.

Dont know if it meets your criteria but thanks for the welcome!

I just moved to Port Saint Lucie less than a year ago. There are a lot of people here from the Northeast. Most of them are conservative as hate what's happening to the cities up North.

I think the red states are getting redder and the blue states are getting bluer because of the migration of conservatives to more conservative areas. It's a win/win for the people moving, because the cost of living in the blue cities is through the roof - they can sell a house in NYC and buy a nicer one for half the price (used to be a quarter of the price).

We need to work on the purple states - GA, CO, OH, MI, PA, etc, and see if we can turn them red...

And THIS is why I think DeSantis could win in those states.

Florida isn’t “Florida” just because of Desantis. The FL legislature is full MAGA. What you see happening in FL is the result of the greatest conservative Governor in modern US history operating in space with the full support of a real conservative legislature backed by a booming economy. Without his legislature, Desantis wouldn’t be “Desantis” and there wouldn’t be a path to real progress. If you want that in your state, you have to work from the ground up: take back your school boards, your sheriffs, then your state reps and get active locally or you will continue to back slide.

Perfectly stated.

Fixing the voter fraud in S. Florida certainly helped. That process was started by Rick Scott.

Are you talking about removing illegals or like no income tax? I’d say no. But I’d rather my taxes go to Louisiana over the federal government. But then again we are taxed heavily in LA and it just gets wasted too. But at least it will be wasted here and not in Ukraine.

Good for you brother. I'm no one important. My criteria means nothing all in all.

Seriously glad you are an American Citizen now! There are many current American Citizens I would trade for just one of you. :cheeers:

No, it’s not. The Florida model can only be executed by a few states, otherwise it loses its significance. Florida and Texas have no income taxes. This results in rich people, with huge upcoming tax liabilities, fleeing to those tax havens. If every state got rid of income taxes capital would not be flocking to Florida.

I’ve seen the argument it’s better also for their illegal problem. They can avoid income tax easier than property taxes. I havent done any research on this, but makes sense. If you are renting those property taxes are cooked in your monthly payment.

Talk about the repeatability of the "Florida model" actually raises a good question: what is the secret to Florida's success???

I'm not strictly talking about the government, I'm simply saying that Florida is getting pretty expensive and the lack of income tax doesn't really off set it. I lived in Gainesville up until 3 years ago. The price of housing is ridiculous there compared to other states. Add to that, property taxes on the overpriced housing. Utilities are thru the roof compared to surrounding states. I pay about half of what I used to on utilities here and my main house is more than twice the square footage of my old place due to the crap city council in Gainesville and GRU. Years back when I was looking to move, I came across an article that discussed the value of a dollar and how it varied by state due to things like taxes, property value, etc and Florida was in the bottom half.
