If I was Putin and sick (the public would never know) and losing power, I’d say frick it too, and go all out. Deescaltion through escalation with a tactical nuke on Kyiv. Unlike the Korean War nuke on China deescalation that was calmed down by cooler heads, this ain’t a democracy, and one man has the power to do whatever he wants even if he’s not thinking clearly. Vilnius and Riga are near the border of Belarus (practically Russian territory) and artillery could soften them down in weeks with the EU to scared to retaliate due to nukes. Would connect Belarus to Kaliningrad by taking Lithuania and Latvia.

I am pretty sure the election meltdowns in the EU are the root cause of this misdirection.

No one on this site cares but the Russians clearly view NATO as fighting against them in a proxy war in Ukraine and by sending drones which get launched at their civilian sites they view Europe as already involved.
