Obama would've won with 400 electoral votes as Lieberman would've depressed GOP vote even more.

And frankly, I'm glad Obama beat that Old man's arse raw.

McCain would've been an absolute disaster as President.

He was running as a third term of Bush 43. frick that noise.

They were looking for anyone but Bush 43 and McCain may have distanced himself from Bush but he was running as a third term of Bush 43 and voters saw right through him regardless of Palin.

I voted 3rd party in that election even when I knew that Obama sucked and I'm damn proud of it.

the angry old man perception of McCain became the visual consciounsness of the American voter.

It was the truth and that is what he exactly still is today.

I can't think of anything more pathetic than a republican/conservative still defending and pining for McCain.

McCain is a piece of shite and I will celebrate with a cold one when he finally leaves this world.

No big deal after the 168 he killed on the Forrestal. He followed those with 1/2 a Million in the Middle East in making a market for the weapons he was selling.

To be honest, had he not chosen Palin, I would've voted for Ron Paul.

I would have stayed home if Palin was not on the ticket.

Goddamit this aint a pro McCain OP topic. Im just pointing out this guy was a lot closer to being president than people assume. We were trying to close down 2 wars and McCain's military service alone won him immediate cred. He was a centrist all along and he needed a right wing evangelical voting base so he picked Palin and it backfired.

Dumbest post I ever read. Fitst of all, McCain never met a left wing nut he didn't want to work with. His entire career was being a fake conservative but he could talk and got all the press time in front of a camera to convince otherwise.

He was a POW and I give him credit for his war service, other than that, a complete idiot.

Holy revisionist history Batman, Palin put McSame back in the race and if he would have managed her better instead of throwing her to the wolves he might have won.

In retrospect, Im glad the fuqer lost because now we have a legit shot to actually MAGA

Maybe leaving his first wife, heard she was in rough shape when left her. John and his dim buddies forget they went after him like they have trump. Remember the new york times saying he had a affair with a staffer. Law and Order did a show based on him as being a anger man, ready to kill everybody because of what happen to him in Nam. MSM and Dims blew that straight talk express up when he was running against Obama, but against bush the straight talk express, was the best ride in town, you could hear it straight from John McCain, what a joke he is and the MSM and McCain let them play him...

McCain was and has always been a fool. He either had zero desire to win or he thought he could somehow fool voters with that gimmick maverick campaign he ran. Most politicians try to rally their base first and then appeal to independents as a strategy for victory. McCain’s problem was that he never had a base and his constant theme of kissing Barry O’s arse and promising to work with Dems across the aisle didn’t exactly rally the average Repub to his side. Why would anyone vote for a closet dem when they could vote for the real thing?

On to Sara Palin. Putting opinions of her aside, choosing her was a desperation move. The McCain campaign had no message and no energy and chose her simply as a cheap ploy to try and generate some excitement in the campaign. It blew up in his face though because it only generated excitement for her not for him. He wasn’t fooling anyone by choosing her because no one really believed he actually wanted her on the ticket.

If it is he is a lying son of a bitch because he repeatedly told her afterward that he didn't regret it.

McCain was low energy.

We all knew he was establishment pick...

So we had 2 choices. So we tried to look at the bright side eith McCain, now we're seeing how bad he was..

VP...had nothing to do with it.
