You almost got to the answer on your own. It’s possible that a party platform changes over time and the priorities of the leaders in said party change as well.

Her history as a prosecutor is a big plus for me, definitely not a negative.

For them to run Kamala means the party's platform pretty much just changed overnight

wow.

Like when she withheld exculpatory evidence from an innocent man on death row and only turned that evidence over when she was ordered to by the courts?

Brilliant prosecutor there. And I'm greatly looking forward to the Democrats flopping their platform over to mass incarceration. That oughta play well with the base, eh?

Clown post is clownish.

They sent a loud mouth a-hole after Pence last time. How did that work out for them?

In other words, you don't really have principles and are malleable to the ticket.

First, the VP doesn't really garner many votes.

This is generally true. However, when you have a Presidential candidate admitting that he needs to find a good VP because he may not be able to finish his first term due to his age, and his mental capacity continues to decline; that will cause more people to pay attention to who the VP is.

That’s just silly. Nobody believe the Democrat platform is going to swing toward “mass incarceration” now.

I think this pick was an absolute disaster for many reasons,

She's a great pick. Seals up black votes, seals up women votes, she's easy on the eyes (compared to other candidates) and very charismatic so she'll pull the middle of the road crowd. She's left but not as far left as Bernie so that keeps their moderate base happy. Its a win win win for Biden

Unlike a lot of people, I have friends on the other side. One of my Democrat friends, who I disagree with quite often, but respect, has been telling me that Kamala is who the DNC wanted at the top of the ticket the whole time. They were SHOCKED that she did not do well in the primaries and Tulsi will blackballed because of what she did at that one debate.

He's been saying Kamala would be VP for months.

Lol Ed. She’s in no way a “train wreck.” I get you don’t like her, but this isn’t a real head scratcher.

You know she is the brightest politician in the history of the country. She is Obama II, the only reason she wasn't recognized is because she is a woman.
She has "slave" in her pedigree. Never mind "slave Master" is fact.

If they were so shocked she did poorly in the primary, why the frick do they think she brings anything to the ticket?

It’s like blaming Bernie for Hillary’s problems. Hillary created Bernie through being a shitty candidate and driving people to an alternative, even when everything was fixed in her favor.

The worst was Tom Eagleton - the guy George McGovern selected in 1972. It was discovered that he had been committed to a mental institution several times and had received electroshock therapy.

That was probably the only time in our nation's political history when crazy outspoken liberalism and media propaganda came close to what we see today, and even they turned on McGovern and his pick.

Not that it mattered, McGovern got taken behind the woodshed so bad in that election it would not have mattered who was on the ticket.

So when the orange glaze honey ham says Ted Cruz's dad killed JFK and his wife is a dog, that's just "part of the game of politics"? Got it.

Historical note- Eagleton was also responsible for the quote about the McGovern campaign making Dems the “party of amnesty, acid, and abortion.”

And he still accepted the slot anyway.
