They're right about how stupid we are. We have been dumb enough to care about Europe's security for the past 70+ years and we are stupid enough to continue to keep wasting our money and resources there.

My point is scale as much as anything.
Someone in Belgium likely needs to know German, French, and Dutch out of necessity and has to travel all of Europe to do different things.
Someone living in California could do all those things and more without leaving the borders of the state. English should be enough to suffice but knowing bits and pieces of Spanish, Chinese, or other languages would help depending on where you are going.
Being in a micro-state surrounded by other countries, cultures, and languages makes things a necessity for them that aren’t needed in other parts of the world.
One can argue whether something is better or worse, but this is the kind of shite that, if done by an American, would result in the “ugly American” stereotype of boorish people demanding to go wherever and having everything be just like home.
Going “Oh, that’s different!” because the person complaining is European and supposedly has a superior culture is intellectually dishonest as hell, considering that the big argument people make against Americans is that they think their culture is superior to everyone else’s.

1) Cultural differences. You should know how the cops react if you are going to a foreign country. The US crime rate is on par with Europe. It is higher than some countries, less than others. The reason our crime rate is even comparable is because of a small group of people that commit far more crimes than their representation.
2) Our cops are armed because our populace is armed. That goes with having the freedom protected by the 2nd amendment. It's not rocket science. I'll take the armed cops.
3) Americans are so dumb, yet our technological innovations and discoveries far outpace theirs. It must be embarrassing to be so far behind a country full of dumb people. I would venture that their assessment is primarily based on our lack of global knowledge. That just comes with being a large country that has been the most dominant for decades. We don't need them as much as they need us.
4) We are monolingual because we are the big dog. English is the international language of business. It is a sign of our higher status.
5) The middle class in America are better off than the middle class almost everywhere else. How many Europeans have a vehicle for each family member with a license? That is not uncommon even for lower middle class in America. Our average house size is almost double that of Europe as well.
6) Healthcare has been covered. They should be grateful that our dumb citizens with expensive healthcare create and fund all of their medical advancements.

When you think of it, almost all of these issues can be traced back to an ignominious legacy of greed by a small number of people, who literally imported the problem into this country.

Just like we have people addicted to being leaches, they have people addicted to social programs.
