Now that all the Gulf states want to eliminate the Iran regime, nothing Iran does to extend the war ends very very badly for them….

Outside of the reparations, this is a ln easy decision to make.

It’s clear China and Russia have motivated them to keep this in a stalemate. They will be more than happy to pop off a drone here and there.
So we either leave and declare victory. Or we move to ground troops holding the south near the strait. There’s no easy win here.

Everybody involved is posturing. They make a press release. Other ME countries make press releases. Trump posts on TS that they have hard deadlines that must be followed.
The thing that mystifies me is that folks aren't content letting things play out and then respond to actual events, not just carefully-penned, public-facing statements.

Time to step it up a tick or two.

Again, both of these things can be true. It appears that the Iranian leadership has split into factions.

Most of their leadership split into small pieces a short while back.

I think the threat of civil war in Iran is real at this point. The IRGC is splintering into factions with some wanting to defect and others not, the leadership is in a situation where they're trying to prove to Trump they're in control when they're clearly not, and former regime supporters are now turning against the regime due to Trump saying that Iran has gifted them a present of oil and gas infrastructure projects. Then you've got all of the people who are anti-regime and want to kill everyone within leadership.
It's a powder keg over there between their own people. Ready to blow.
I think if the US just walked away right now that civil war would break out almost immediately.

Not just the leadership either. Since there is no central command within the Iranian military anymore you have lower level commanders calling shots within different regions of Iran. Some want to defect, others don't.
On top of this you have some resistance group operating in Iran now. They call themselves "dog hunters" they're stalking and killing IRGC members.
That place is a frickin mess right now and it's all due to our military beating their frickin asses like rented mules in just three short weeks.

Yep. They're well trained, whoever they are. And well funded. The longer shite like that goes on the more you'll see defections within the IRGC.

don't want to be there to begin with
don't like shooting your countryman
all of a sudden you're not getting paid to do either
all of a sudden your countrymen are shooting at you
you laid out the total # of armed troops we estimate Iran had 4 weeks ago.
we don't know how many have been unalived or already defected.
But it doesn't take long with a 1 for 1 defect/IRGC ratio (with a weapon) to occur to flip that Delta.
Posted on 3/25/26 at 2:12 pm to jammajin
That's true. Before this began they had half a million at their disposal. I'm sure that number is far fewer now. And that will accelerate rapidly.
The "dog hunters." I wonder if they're Kurdish.
