powerman you left out a piece of key info

So we're pretending this is about something that happened in 1979? Is the United States typically that slow to retaliate? At least attempt to be serious here. I know you're intelligent.

So they shouldn’t be able to defend themselves at all?

To who? You? You love and trust them how am I going to do that.

We have said that can’t obtain nukes (which you seem to agree with) They said they have enough for 11 weapons and we can’t have it. This thread is about the missile they just fired.

Again, until a nuke drops in your lap you will say there’s no imminent threat

Unfortunately for you 77 million of us voted for someone who sees it differently. You’ll have to wait until one of your potato leaders trusts them again to allow them to get back to nuking up and making that happen for you.

Nope. They should let someone friendly to the west lead and work to ally themselves with thr rest of the modern world.

Give us 2 decades of peaceful democracy friendly to the US and we'll see about a defense program.

It was well known they had hidden sites and activity they refused the inspectors access to. This was one of many criticisms. That was on top of many times the delayed inspections even before we left the deal.

They also kept developing ICBMs which was not restricted by the deal but why the need for ICBMs if you have zero intent on building a nuclear bomb? That is one of the complaints Trump had about the deal in 2018 when we left.

^^^^this dawg. I went ahead and removed the nuclear shite to make it easy.

This argument exactly was used to invade Iraq. Maybe not nukes, but WMDs.

Make a minor edit, use the same argument, neo-cons ready to go. To not see the minor difference in the same argument makes you sound really smart.

I didn't say it wasn't the same argument

The key difference vs this time is that it is a fact that Iran was developing ICBMs. They admitted it.

I clearly explained it to you already above. What part of it do you need me to explain to you a bit slower?

It's like you don't know what the word 'hidden' means

What evidence was there of a hidden stockpile? Even after 7 years of escalation & aggressively pursuing a nuke… they still can’t make a nuke.

So yeah I think I like the scenario where they were subject to the terms of JCPOA & where tensions had cooled and were moving in the right direction.

It’s obvious that Netanyahu really didn’t like the fact that Iran had come to terms with all these other countries & we folded.

The question is not whether JCPOA was 100% perfect. It’s whether it was doing what it was meant to do… and whether the trajectory pre-2018 is demonstrably different from post-2018 + which you think was a better path.

Now we pretty much have no choice but to bomb the shite out of Iran every 10 years. I don’t see how this goes any other way.

It's just funny how the goalposts shift. One day, its about nukes. The next, ballistic missiles. The next, supporting proxies. The next, regime change.

Asking them is dismantle their missile program is crazy. You're basically asking them to not have any mechanism to defend themselves from attack.

Oh OK so we should have let them continue on.

Correct. Which is why our initial negotiations weren't coming from a place of good faith and war was inevitable.

Naturally because we were repeatedly told they were not an imminent threat to the US.

this is a continuous situation SINCE 1979

Iran is quite literally the Axis of evil in that part of the world and their leadership relished that status for decades

Now they are dead

even if this American “excursion” fails and the remnants of the regime remains in power, their regional efforts have been set back by at least a decade. And the rest of the world will quickly leave them behind as they try to rebuild their shattered military

Developing ICBMs is vastly different than developing SRBMs, MRBMs, and IRBMs

They told the world they only had SRBMs and MRBMs

SRBM (Short-range): < 1,000 km
MRBM (Medium-range): 1,000–3,000 km

That would be more than sufficient from a self-defense aspect

Why the need for an ICBM or IRBM program if it's just about self-defense?

Ah so you’re one of these people who cries racism at anyone who has something critical to say about the benevolent and universally loved world leader, Netanyahu.

And we'd be stupid to think that they won't want some vengeance

So they want vengeance now because of the recent attacks by the US? This vengeance they seek is because of actions taken by the US and Israel in 2026?

You think if Trump was totally isolationist they wouldn’t want vengeance and they’d just forget the last few decades?
